Sonnet France N

Pachypteris

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have recently bought a Parker Sonnet deep black lacquer GT, and on its cap is written Parker Sonnet France N. I have checked online the date codes for Parker (on Parker Pens Penography), and the N letter on the cap appears to indicate all three 1989, 1999 and 2009 years. Any idea about how to identify correctly the year? Thanks in advance.

One would have to look for the obvious (and in some cases subtle) differences on the cap bands to decide the year of production of the pen.

So a picture would be appreciated.

I have three Sonnets. All three have Parker Sonnet France on 5 mm wide gold cap band that has a grooves at the top and a single groove at the bottom.

Matte black GT acquired 2008 has date code P.1 engraved after France - parkerpens.net suggests 3Q 2007.

Ruby GT acquired 2009 has date code N.111 engraved after France - parkerpens.net suggests 1Q 2009.

Dark grey acquired 2013 has date code 11U engraved after France - parkerpens.net does not have 11U has only U11 for 2Q 2011.

Is date code 11U the same as U11?

Date codes for 2010 onward on parkerpens.net are wrong. The correct date codes for 2011 are IIIU IIU IU and U. Moreover, IQ is third quarer 2010.

Thank you for your kind answers, the Sonnet I have has an N followed by a dot (as in N.). I took photos of it, including a detailed macro, put them on Flickr, but it looks that I cannot associate them with a link, the system says "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community". The photos are jpegs, of course. Have to check about how it works with photos here.
