Noodler's North Star Liberator 2016 Le

Another of the 2016 LE inks by Noodler's from the Commonwealth Pen Show.

This is a totally waterproof ink. A nice soft, vintage blue. Fast-drying on more absorbent papers. Even on Rhodia, mostly dry in 5 seconds. Totally unobtanium. So I'm very happy that someone sent me a generous sample. Thank you inky friend! The flow is really good in this ink, and I like it.

Pen: Edison Premiere (F-steel)

Papers: MvL=Mohawk via Linen, TR=Tomoe River, Hij=Hammermill 28 lb inkjet, Rhodia=Rhodia 90g ivory.

Camera: iPhone 7

Too bad this was an LE ink. It seems to be a really nice color. And I remember the discussions when Liberty's Elysium came out as to whether it was really waterproof or only water resistant. Clearly Nathan has solved the "waterproof but still vibrant/non-chalky" issue. But only as an LE ink.... :(

Thanks for the review. Even if it is "unobtanium"....

Well I have to say this isn't vibrant like Liberty's Elysium. I like the look of the ink. I don't know if I'd call it chalky or not. But that's another aspect of Noodler's inks that has never bothered me.

If you have seen Upper Ganges Blue, you'd know what "chalky" means.... :(

I don't mind inks that are matte finish, rather than vibrant. But chalky inks just look weird to me -- as if they're really dry, even if they aren't.

Noodlers Luxury Blue was/is chalky. Northstar Liberator is definitely NOT chalky.

I really like this one. Did you compare it to Monkey Hanger?

Thank you, White Star for these great reviews.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Ah, I found it, I did try them both last year.

Interesting that your North Star Liberator is lighter than Monkey Hanger. Mine is the other way around.

It could be that I was using an even wetter pen.
