Seitz-Kreuznach Pacific Blue

I received this ink in a bundle of samples, and I always feel I should give the ink a review even though I don't own a bottle. Perhaps someone else will enjoy it, and give it a try. This is the Seitz-Kreuznach Pacific Blue. They have a number of inks and are a German company. They don't seem to be carried by any of the US retailers, online or otherwise, but they do have an Amazon shop. I don't know how readily available they are in the EU, but again they seem to have a German website from which to order. They supply many other things than inks.

The inks come in 3.38 oz flasks, and in 1 oz bottles similar to Pelikan 4001. The flasks are quite economical at $14.50, so under $5 per ounce; the one ounce bottles are not as economical at all. At Amazon there are 20 or so individual inks available in the "Colors of Nature" series, and some are even available as cartridges.

Pen: Edison Premiere (F-steel)

Papers: MvL=Mohawk via Linen, TR=Tomoe River, Hij=Hammermill 28 lb inkjet, Rhodia=Rhodia 90g ivory.

The color here reminds me of the inks often called "washable blue". This is quite nice I think, but not super-saturated, which is OK by me. The ink is not water resistant at all. In Cyber6's review this ink appears more of a blue-violet. So quite paper-dependent on how it appears. There are times when I think it's going to be a different color, but then in the end it appears basically like the other writings of this ink.

Mostly a single blue dye, but there appears to be a hint of a violet in the mix.

I've literally just received this ink from Seitz-Kreuznach. Along with Plum Blue and Tundra Green. I don't have the chance to use them yet, but the splash of this ink seems rather good.

Seitz-Kreuznach offers free shipping on their website, as long as they send to your country (seems to be a limited number of countries).

Thanks for the review. Too bad about the lack of water resistence, otherwise seems to be a nice light blue. Similar to J. Herbin Bleu Nuit?

I only have one bottle of J. Herbin, Bleu Nuit isn't it. Perhaps someone else can compare. My guess is Bleu Nuit would be darker. And based on the Goulet writing sample, the J. Herbin ink will be darker and more saturated. But based on the Anderson writing sample, perhaps they're more similar than I imagine.

We'll all look forward to your review Lgsoltek, as always.

Thanks White Lotus!

Thanks from me too. I love your reviews, especially what you write from W.B. The blue is a "nice" blue but unfortunately -- due to the fortunate existence of innumerable other such blues -- IMO nothing really "new".
