Glad to find a forum dedicated to discussing pens from this part of the world. I am using a few Indian manufactured pens at the moment. A couple from Kanwrite - a Desire Demonstrator and a Emperor Divine Ganesha, a Click Falcon Full Ebonite, and a recently acquired Vazir Patriot 4 (which I have reviewed on my Youtube channel here). Looking to try out some offerings by Ranga, ASA and Gama. Any suggestions?

ASA and Gama are fine pens.

I have Gama Supreme, Jumbo Demo, Eyas, Raja and Ezhuthani (aka Table Pen) - Raja and Eyas came with Ambitious nibs. Supreme and Demo with Gama nibs. All do write well.

From ASA I got Galactic, I Can, Athlete, Daily 3 in 1 - least used is Daily.  Needed some smoothening of nibs.

All Ebonite except the demos.

If you like pens with large section > 11mm you'd never put down any of these and these never failed on me since 2015.

Regards

Today it is the classic Gama Raja.

Aptly named by Gama I consider it the king of my collection (for non-desi FMs Raja means King). It is from the lot of my first buy from ASA Pens in 2015. The body is brushed ebonite similar to Lamy 2k (that is today's standby pen) with the finial tip and barrel tip smooth and polished. Nib is Ambitious- very fine line and nail like but not at all scratchy. Perhaps this is one of the nibs I have that did not meet the nail buff block. The section is around 11mm or so and very comfortable for me to hold.

Over time, the gold plating of the clip and cap rings has faded. So too the nib fading off - I believe one of my inks is causing it on the nib - seemingly Lamy Turquoise that was in it earlier. I think the same ink also wiped clean the gold plating of my Pelikan M200. PXL_20231122_051047252.thumb.jpg.6c6f017e7b787d767500e75c1e25ca41.jpgPXL_20231122_051114667.thumb.jpg.d25f17666c3a49246434d06cb4ed9f27.jpg

A friend gave me a brand new "Click Renaissance Handmade Ebonite Charcoal Matt ".
Beautiful sleek black tone , that price point with a full packing box is amazing.
I love the body, but the nib isn't really impressing. But again, it is a gift, I am very grateful and so far very happy with how the pen feels in my hand.

you can swap it with a #6 nib of your choosing. Jowo, Bock, Schmidt, or any one from Indian makes like kanwrite or ambitious. For the price, the build quality is impressive nonetheless. A fantastic value for money pen.

Thank you @Aravind_A_2310 . I think I am gonna have someone to tune it a bit for me. I like having original nib with me.
I have tried my friend's Kanwrite legacy, that one with changeable nib units, that was so awesome ! Smooth like butter.
One of the pens I am gonna get

My current favorites are two giant pens.

A guider pushcap zimbo with a Schmidt broad. An almost perfect pen. A great size and exceptionally well balanced1701494180495255195869.thumb.jpg.562f03a15394369ad20512f994c83957.jpg

2)A gama mp half ebonite demonstrator

Again great size. my most favourite model from gama. Chose it with a 1mm gama nib which is my preferred nib size

I got this pen with my latest Ranga purchase I do not know if it is India-made or not.

The engraving on the nib is rather like the Starfleet logo from The Original Series.

I even liked the OE blue cartridge, which is just about empty now.

It has emptied remarkably fast and it hasn't leaked.

Who is this PLP? I am hearing the name only now after coming back on FPN.

The pen for this week for me is ever popular Gama Popular.

It was bought in 2015 / 16 and "stolen" by my little one who was fascinated by the color. Now after 8 years she agreed for a swap

A mid sized pen in Teal / Black swirl ebonite. ED like other Gama pens I have (Raja, Demo, Supreme, Eyas, Table pen (ezhuthani) ).

I have not changed the nib to any exotic brands or others. The same dual tone nib that came with the pen.  It writes like a nail but quite smooth. Don't know if to call it  M or F. No marking on the nib. I could recognize a similar writing nib on Gama Raja as from Ambitious. Is this from Kanwrite? Any clue Gama users?

Yes, the paper in the photo below is not FP friendly - bleeds through with most inks and pens.

I've got a few of those "Starfleet" pens from Ranga too. I like them!

I just checked my small batch of those pens; two of them came with a similar cartridge, and the rest came with a press-fit refillable converter. So I guess you can always just add one to yours too, unless you prefer the cartridge.

Currently inked, Mohi Black Current (yes, current not currant). One of my favourite Indian pens, brilliant finish on the ebonite, a nice bouncy nib. I have extra sections to use a jowo nib unit and converter, but I prefer this Mohi medium nib with a barrel fill, hasn't burped on me yet.

What is the diameter of the section? Girthy pens have become my daily writers.

11mm to 9mm from the wider end to the narrowest (roughly based on a scale, don't have calipers on me right now). I prefer girthier pens as well, and I hold this one high enough.

On wider sections, which pens one's do you recommend ?

cleaned up one Airmail 71JT, fit with a KW broad architect nib, with perhaps the driest ink I have, Herbin Lie De The. Ready to go. Amazing pen.

Thank you for the info.

From the Indian pens I have Gama Demo, Gama Supreme and ASA Galactic come first for me. 12mm plus at section.

Gama Popular, Eyas, Popular, Raja and ASA I Can, Khyati Sketching Pen from my ebonites. And Camlin SD & Beena Antic. All around 11mm plus minimum section dia.
