Would I be correct to say the Gama line is as follow when it comes to size:

Popular < eyas < hawk < supreme

The popular and eyas look very similar to me.

Besides these models we have Gama airborne, Kuyil, panther. Best to check the dimension of the individual pen on ASA website. Else it can get too confusing.

Yes it is quite confusing. That coupled with the lack of a proper catalog mentioning model names and sizes etc.

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.

Right. Atleast ASA provides dimensions for many of their popular Gama pens which helps to get an idea about the pens.

thank you all, I will check the Raja, it looks like it's the same size as the Eyas (as also the Eyas is comparable size to Pelikan M800) but flat top shape.

From what you say I seemed to have figured out that

Eyas (sigar shaped) and Raja (flat top) same size (M800)

Hawk (sigar shaped) and Kuyil (flat top) same size (larger than M800)

Masterpiece larger still

I assume Hawk and Kuyil still hold size 6 nibs (not size 8)?

would be nice if ASA were to comment the picture on their site regarding Gama pens

as I'm not quite sure which is which

If the third from right is a Popular then the fourth and fifth are Kuyil and Hawk, or Raja and Eyas? difficult to tell...

Thanks for the picture. I am not the biggest fan of matte finishes to be honest. I love polished ebonite. I find it slips less and I like the look of brown swirl. I would get the eyas knowing it comes in matte black for the size difference.

Would I be correct to say the Gama line is as follow when it comes to size:

Popular < eyas < hawk < supreme

Could we insert the other ebonite models in this size comparison list?

according to my impression your list is correct, the Eyas and Raja are same size but different shape, same as with Hawk and Kuyil.

On ASA pens, the Gama hawk is one of few Gama pens in stock. Same appears the case on penhouse.in

I wonder if Gama stopped making the eyas? Would be a shame because I also think the hawk is probably too big for me (though I am using my supreme these days). I would buy both a eyas and a hawk.

btw the Eyas is still listed, but currently not avaliable.

Only Hawk and Kuyil at the moment, (which does not surprise me, they are same size - just different cap top and finial - so they probably turned a batch...)

Eyas and popular seem to have the same sizing stats on ASA pens.

I'm looking forward to the Gama pens being available again because I find their pens better shaped than Ranga and the nibs less juicy compared to Asa pens.

I will wait for the pens to come up on the website because ordering through WhatsApp makes me a bit uneasy.

Yes they come with Indian nib equivalent to standard size 6 nib.

I was actually able to find a description of these pens from Mr. Subramaniam's post in FB group.

Left to right: Gama supreme round top, Gama supreme flat top, Gama hawk, Gama Kuyil, Gama Popular, Gama forever, Gama raja.

Not sure if you have checked penhouse.in, or if they ship internationally, as they too carry several gama pens, including several cheap models.

I, too, prefer to buy pens over website but so many Indian sellers here are hard to contact except for whatsapp, that's why I had to install whatsapp to buy these Indian pens. Otherwise I would have missed these pens.

Have you tried Woodex pens? Hari has a full post on them. I find them to be very well-built and good writers.

ah, thank you so much!

Honestly speaking I don't care so much for those rings on the caps of the Forever and Raja.

In fact now that I recall I think I asked Asa to make my Forever not only clipless but without the rings.

I too don't care much for the rings. Your Forever looks beautiful.

Having used the Gama Kuyil in matte black finish, I feel more attracted to pens with matte finish. I have got a Woodex 39 in same finish, and an acriv master should also arrive soon in same finish.

Recently Hari shared pics of both Deccan masterpiece and gama masterpiece in matte finish. Love those too, though the Deccan masterpiece costs a lot these days or so I have heard.

I've been using the Gama supreme lately. The climate is so hot this summer that there is less burping than in the winter. I feel like I am finally getting the Indian experience. :D

Anyway, the pen is a big large but I like how Gama shapes their pens. I like it a lot more than Ranga and Asa like I said before. The threads are sharp but the body and section are quite straight and I can find a comfortable position.

I'm hoping to reproduce this feeling in the popular/eyas and hawk, preferably in polished ebonite.

I too often hold my pen around the threads. However I don't find the threads in my Gama supreme or Kuyil to be sharp at all. But I bought both these pens recently, so they may have smoothed out the threads I guess.

I too prefer Gama over the other pens that you mentioned because I find them more robust and less expensive too here in India.

Sorry wrong place, but is there a review of the Asa wizard?

Have you tried searching the forum.

There are some YouTube videos on it though.

Today I inked up a new Gama Jumbo pen. I was in Chennai for work and had extra time; so went to Gem and Co. Purchased this black polished ebonite jumbo pen, fitted with Gama broad nib. I eagerly inked it as soon as I reached home. It writes very well. It has a white dot on the cap.

From the neighbouring Oliver pens shop, bought 3 fountain pens and 1 roller ball pen (with a magnetic cap). On dip-testing all are fine writers.

Among the oliver pens, I liked this green oliver eyedropper with golden trims very muchIMG_20210813_183159.thumb.jpg.d6a83a37f983c84f24d74eb7af5c6e0a.jpg.

Nice. What was the price of this pen?  And is it same size as gama Hawk?

It is around 1800 to 1900 (+/- Rs. 100 depending on matte versus polished finish).

It is the same size as Gama Supreme, so slightly bigger than Hawk..
