What Mbs Are You Using Today?

I bought this about 30 something years ago. It was thrown in a junk drawer for decades after years of neglect and I just cleaned it up over the weekend.  Amazed that it still works!
Even though I semi cleaned it up, it is still flowing the ink that I left it with all those years ago and hasn't started flowing the new ink yet.

I'm using a grey-striped 244 G with an extra fine nib and a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle WE, also with an extra fine nib. Both are inked with MB Old Glory Blue. My only disappointment with the Doyle is that it doesn't post and is a little too small for my hand.

Do we think the maroon pen is Montblanc? or a fake?

Seems like probably a white snowflake on the cap but the black lines between the gold cap bands are off...maybe a trick of the light??

 

I've asked for a picture with the cap off -maybe I should ask for more pictures!

The maroon pen doesn't look like any Montblanc I've ever seen.

The cap “rings”look like a wide single ring with grooves filled with black paint.  An MB will have 3 separate rings.

The end of the barrel does not appear tapered enough as compared to the MB I am looking at in my hand. Montblanc did make - briefly - a burgundy 146 and I have one, but my wife says that the one pictured doesn't look the same. (I am the last person you would want to consult about color.) I also think Kazoolaw makes a good point about the rings. They don't match my pen.  My conclusion: avoid that pen.

I just added to my collection a Starwalker Black Cosmos in medium.  I was surprised the Macy's I went into had a Montblanc display and may or may not have lost all will power...
