Hi! This information is probably so obvious no one has mentioned it, but it is something I could have used. Cleaning my Boheme Bleu yesterday, I finally figured out that I could unscrew the grip. Believe me, I searched for this kind of information. But I only ever learned that it is hard to clean, and I should not put water down the back end through the mechanism.

In fact, it is not hard to clean at all. I just unscrewed the grip, extended the nib, and rinsed off every part that stuck out. There is a little plastic collar above the nib that captures ink that needs to be rinsed well. I did not have to put any water into the barrel.

I swear, I never saw a picture on any website (or comment) of the grip being unscrewed, not even on the montblanc site. It might be there, it might be too obvious to mention, it might be that I can't see what I'm not looking for.... But I have to post this in case there are any other people like me who bought it used with no instructions. BTW, I adore this pen. It was made for me.

I apologize for Cyrillic, but I have not yet translated the old post from 2017.

After a long absence, I have brought the 334½ back into daily use.

I'd forgotten how good the steel nibs are. Such versatility!

Had this pen many years, one of my all time keepers.

Enjoy the weekend.

Thanks.

It was Montblanc's cheap and cheerful pen of the day.

Steel nibs started during the war (WW2) when gold was rationed and ran through to the early 1950's.

You could pick these pens up at reasonable prices, right up to a few years ago - now they have become expensive, as have all things Montblanc!

Hi, there.

Here’s my today’s combination. I’m kind of old-fashioned guy:

Top to bottom:

142G OBB

144   OF

144   EF

All the three are early fifties celluloid models, w. telescopic piston mechanisms. I feel lika writing with artisan pieces of history.

The 1949 142G OBB, whose telescopic mechanism I just took out, cleaned it from the deposits of 70+ years of use and misuse, silicon-greased it and replaced its cork piston. It works and writes like new! What a fantastic, timeless pen!

Anybody interested can find few more details in the “Repair Q&A” sub-section of this forum.

My very first Montblanc (will it also be the last??)

A No. 22 with EF nib

Was very crusty with dried ink, the piston wouldn't travel. A good soak and some pen wash and a dab of silicone and it fills and works!!!

That's cool, and certainly well worth the effort. Hope you enjoy it.

I am using my MB 2022 Writers Edition Grimm Brothers.  Beautiful pen that writes so nicely.  Love it.
