What Pens Are You Using Today 2017

Mostly used my Jinhao x750 with Heart of Darkness. The ONLY pen I have that I wish wrote a little drier. The thing is an absolute fire hose with a triple wide nozzle. My natural tendency is to write small (and poorly) and this thing just makes one slightly jagged line across the page if I don't make a conscious effort to WRITE BIG.

Oh, I know this of myself

I assume as much for other people

We’ve listened more to life’s end gong

Than the sound of life’s sweet bells

Well, I guess I should have reported on my usage as well. Today has been a Parker day, and in particular the two I got at the Ohio Pen Show last month:
Parker 61, Red (although to me it's sort of brick colored), M-ish nib, with whatever black ink (might be plain old Quick, who knows) I've been reconstituting out of the capillary filler as needed (just enough distilled water flushed through the pen to get the ink flowing); we'll see how long this one runs till the ink becomes so diluted it's illegible (on my first 61 it took four MONTHS B)).

Parker Vacumatic Azure Blue Pearl Speedline filler (think it's a Senior Debutante but I'd need an expert to ID which model it is), F (or possibly F/M) nib, with vintage Quink Microfilm Black -- only on most paper the ink looks more blue than black....

I hate to break it to you -- but that last statement should be: *IF* you win the 51 you're bidding on....

51s are extremely popular around here (and with good reason). But that popularity means that you could very easily get sniped by another bidder -- or just plain outbid. Just ask Surprise 123, who has been trying to get one (and within his middle-school aged means to boot).

So what are your other pens besides the Safaris? And why do you say that they're either childish or don't work? Because if you don't like them as is, you could always consider a PiF or see about getting them repaired.

Ruth, I got 2 BICs and a few cheapo no name FP's. The no name should just be a flush but the BIC's, not worth it. No parts etc. The childish one are from when I went to Primary School and I had just learned to write. Hope that makes sense.

About the 51, I keep an close eye on the auction and I am prepared to snipe it.

Kind regards,

Robin.

The Omas Paragon bronze titanium again today. Did some work on the nib and it writes very well now. Could use a small amount more polishing but Ill run it for now. Inked with Edelstein Topaz Blue.

Someday the mountain might get em but the law never will.........

I've been using my Lamy 2000's so far.

Got the medium L2K today, it's flawless. It's slightly broader than what I expected, but I "needed" one like this anyway. Really wet and smooth writer, at least so far

Apologies for the poor picture, there's not enough light to take better ones...

Pelikan M405 Anthracite Stresemann, B nib, with diluted KWZI Chicago Blue LE.

Parker Vacumatic Azure Blue Pearl Speedline filler, F (M?) nib, with vintage Quink Microfilm Black (which still looks dark blue on a lot of paper).

There has to be something wrong if your EF writes like my M... My medium Lamy 2000 writes more like a broad.

Here's a quick nib comparison, Lamy 2000 medium vs. Lamy Vista fine vs. Lamy 2000 extra fine vs. Platinum #3776 Century fine :P

The medium Lamy 2000 has the broadest nib I own, and it's also easily the wettest pen I own. It's also super smooth.

Lamy Vista (fine) isn't too wet but it's not dry either.

Lamy 2000 extra fine is a bit on the wet side. I love the nib, it's my smoothest writer after the medium Lamy 2000 and it feels really... controllable? I wouldn't let anyone touch this nib even if they paid me

The Platinum #3776 Century (fine) is easily my driest pen, and it feels a bit scratchy. I still don't know what to think of this pen, it writes almost as fine as my two extra fine Platinum Preppies, but it's more scratchy and a drier writer. I do occasionally enjoy using it, though.

Lamy Safari, F nib, with Robert Oster Orange Zest. It's well behaved and it's got great shading. But when push comes to shove, it's still orange ink. A little redder than some, but still, well orange....

Thanks for looking and if anyone can get back to me on whether this is a Chalana or something else from Sailor, I would appreciate it!

Thanks,

Ian

TWSBI Eco EF filled with Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses for everything, except for the Moleskine Daily which will, as always, be written with a Platinum Carbon Desk Pen EF with Platinum Carbon ink.

Will work for pens...

I've been mostly writing with a Jinhao X750 with an el chiepo blue cartridge. I also am carrying a Noodler's Nib Creaper with HOD.

If it isn't too bright for you, it isn't bright enough for me.
