It's fairly well behaved so far, and shades nicely (although I haven't done a complete review for myself yet). But I'm really fussy about browns. So I'm not sure I'd be willing to spring for a full bottle -- I suspect that there are similar inks out there, color-wise, which are less expensive.

Adding a bit more information now. Visconti Brown is really close in color to J Herbin Café des Iles, and dries a lot faster as well, but has more bleed through on poor quality (absorbent) Piccadilly paper than Café des Iles.

You'd have to make the decision as to whether the faster dry time is worth the extra cost, or whether the worse bleed through negates that. But since I prefer more sepia toned browns (both are a tiny bit too red, though not as bad as something like MB Toffee Brown) it's kinda a non-issue. Glad I've tried them, but personally would not get full bottles -- although if someone were to give me a bottle of either I'd accept without a quibble. OTOH, I have I have 2 bottles of Iroshihzuku Yama-guri, and somehow ended up with *three* of Edelstein Smoky Quartz (not that this is a problem, mind... ;)).

Two JIFs again today, one with the new Kobe van Gogh Dark Green (yesterday was the Dark Blue).

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Luoshi 291 loaded with Pilot Blue-Black for standard writing tasks.

Jinhao 750 with a broad Nemosine Re-entry nib. This is the pen I rely on for testing shading inks, or as my shimmer ink pen. Emerald of Chivor has spent a lot of time in it, as has Stormy Grey.

Right now, I have it loaded with Apache Sunset that I got as a sample, to see what all the fuss is about. I guess I'm weird for thinking, yes, nice shading, but I'm not impressed enough to buy a bottle of the stuff.

With the holidays coming, I have all those cards to send, so the Jinhao will get to spend some more time inked up with Emerald of Chivor--as if it hasn't spent most of its life in my pen rotation that way.

Every time I see "Tsukushi," all I can think of is this:

The girl character's name is Makino Tsukushi, and the show is Hana Yori Dango, aka Asia's version of Pride and Prejudice. One of the jokes in the series (which started as a wildly popular manga) is how she's named after a weed.

My beautiful brand new Lamy 2000 EF with some DIY brown I mixed with De Atramentis Document inks (black and yellow). Now I know what y'all meant by "buttery smooth". Jeez I am fond of this pen. I also carry some Platinum Preppy's I eyedroppered with Noodler's HOD for doing documentation at work (blue or black ink "it's the law").

In order of receipt: Noodler Charlie, Jinhao X750 M, Charcoal Lamy Safari EF, Platinum Preppy F, Platinum Preppy EF, Lamy 2000 EF...

Today I carried my Kaweco Perkeo Indian Summer M w/ Private Reserve Blue Suede - an inexpensive pen but so smooth for note taking if the paper is right (it always is!). Also brought along my Pilot Stargazer Sapphire M w/ tsuki-yo - a smaller pen but the finish reminds me that good things are happening somewhere - and it writes beautifully! Here's to inky fingers!

I have had a lot of trouble with the Noodlers Apache Sunset - like you not sure I believe the hype! Seems to struggle out of the feed sometimes - maybe it's good for flexier nibs but my daily writers choked on the stuff.

Apache Sunset from my fountain pens (pelikans included) sure is nothing like those ino reviews that show the lightest yellow to that orangey red. Luckily I only got a sample.

Two pens today.

A Platinum Desk Pen with Platinum Carbon ink to write postcards because it's very fine so I can write very small and and fit a longer message into the small space. It's also watrproof which seems like a good idea for mail.

My favourite pen for everything else: a Pilot Custom Heritage 92 with a soft fine nib and R&K Sepia ink.

Will work for pens...

Visconti Rembrandt Blue -Medium - I love that magnetic clasp!

Waterman Ombres et Lumieres Medium - Waterman Blue ink - nice but tough to write if posted and the grip section takes a bit of getting used to.

Mostly a Pelikan M200 and an FPR Darjeeling today.

I just finished inking up my FPR Ebonite Himalaya. I love the way it feels and writes.

I also just inked up my TWSBI Eco-T. I really liked the Eco, but love the Eco-T. Not a fan of the color, but the pen feels great in the hand.
