What Pens Are You Using Today 2017

RMN

Recommended Posts

The fountain pens in my pen pouch today are Pilot Metropolitan (Lamy Dard Lilac Ink), Wearever School Pen (J. Herbin Amber), Esterbrook J (Parker Quink Black), Ero Fountain Pen (Waterman Royal Blue), Senator Windsor (Pelikan 4001 Red Ink) and Platinum Plaisir (Lamy Green Ink).

Pichak, how are the Senator Windsor and the Ero? Would you recommend one over the other?

Are they comparably good to other pens at that price point, or more for curiosity than anything else?

Hero #232 Blue-Black is my Waterman Florida Blue.

Your Kilometrage May Vary (#ykmv), a Philippine blawg about ink and fountain pens.

Pelikan 100N, DF 14kt nib, Diamine Onyx. Nib is a stiff one, but suits me, as I have to write on various types of paper.

Gone already. On its way to a new home.

Gosh. That was quick! Did you not find it to your taste, Jar?

I just could not get comfortable with it not having a clip.

I was tempted to say 'what a shame', but if it isn't suitable...it isn't suitable.

It is a nice looking pen though.

I've been grabbing out of my pen cups, because of the ink cartridge in it, a marbled green Pelikan Celebry. That one has the gold nib, my black and chrome has the steel nib. Both are F, and not marked. Both are =.

I have a cartridge of Amethyst in that other Celebry.

Unusually for me I have a Geha school pen out in my pen cups. I have two, the skinny one and the fat one that looks so much like the 790 ....out side neither's nib will fit each other or the 790.

The nib is not exactly the FK that is marked on the piston cap....in unlike the normal FK's (I had six I swapped for this pen) it has no 'big' American Bump Under like the 5 FK nib& sections I had had (or a 120's slightly flattened Bump Under that is close to the same size), , but a small have to look twice under bump. The skinny School pen has a very nice springy once gold plated steel 'true' regular flex nib similar to that, with less bump than the 120.

I had not expected the Geha School pens to differ so much, one being skinny medium-large and neither taking the nib of the other.

I had to fight the urge to ink that skinny, medium-large Geha School pen.

If you Hunt you can still find Geha School pens for E12 up to E19 :o on German Ebay.....you don't have to pay $89...Buy Now that is offered by German Pirates on US Ebay.

The 790's, 140s, 400s of this era are flat and stubbish, with no under bump.

This fatter 790 similar Geha School pens is a steel nibbed EF-F maxi-semi-flex. :notworthy1:  ....very unusual I believe on a school pen. MB Lavender Purple. (I would not expect to get a maxi if I won one, but a normal springy true regular flex nib.....and well worth having.) Dam well worth having if you can get one for E19 and under....like the 790 it is a Best Buy.

Of my 790's three are semi-flex and one is maxi-semi-flex. So I was not expecting that on a school pen.

A Geha School pen has but the clip ring (no two or three 'rings' at the jewel)....and a serial number to prevent kids from stealing your pen. Too bad I didn't have that....or I was too poor to get my name engraved on the pens that were stolen every year from me.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

It's beautimous and the nib was perfect and it felt and wrote wonderfully and I hope the new owner really likes it.
