Another new pen - a Faber-Castell Loom with an F nib. I'm pretty pleased so far - the nib reminds me of the one on my Laban pen*, but I can actually take this one with me without worrying myself silly.

On the downside, that cap is ridiculous. Normally when people say a pen's got a pretty tight cap I'm sitting there like "wait, what?", but this one? Jeez.

*then again, the F-C nibs are apparently made by Bock, and AFAIK, so are Laban's nibs... so I'm not really surprised.

I was playing with my Pilot 78G with the broad (stub) nib yesterday, realizing I'd forgotten how much fun a stub can be, when I remembered my Bexley Owner's Club 2008 vermiel with stub nib. So I dug it out last night and inked it with Scabiosa, quickly realizing that I need a LOT of stub-writing practice. :yikes: More like a complete start-over.

Re-sorted my pens today, so it's quite a list. There's more, those were just the most-used ones.

  • Faber Castell Loom - F nib, Pelikan royal blue. Liking it more the more I use it. The section - the thing I was most skeptical about - is surprisingly comfortable. Might have to find a more fun ink, though. I have a designated "official stuff" pen, so there's no reason to stick to rb after an initial test fill*.
  • Picasso 915 - M nib, Diamine Oxblood - The nib is very similar to the K316, but somehow I vastly prefer this pen**. Plus, it is so pretty.
  • Sheaffer... Imperial? - M nib, Diamine Oxblood - Might finally have fixed its flow issues; currently testing that out.
  • Unnamed Piston Filler - 14k Bock nib, presumably M, Diamine Saddle Brown - Cleaned and re-filled. First time using this pen with something that's not royal blue. Quite liking the look of it. This nib's lines have a certain soft look to them, which complements the ink well.
  • Noodler's Ahab - Flex nib, Diamine Saddle Brown - Testing concluded; taking out the filling system fixed everything wrong with my pen, save for some minor railroading. It's not bad at all, but I had that set up quite a bit better in the past. Gotta heat-set the feed next time I clean the thing.
  • Wing Sung 322 - F nib, Pelikan dark green - Still testing; flow and hard-start issues seem to be resolved, skipping seems fixed as well. Going to give that one away, so I'm being more thorough than usual.
  • Delta Dolcevita Federico - M nib, Diamine Oxblood - Wanted to see if it was still being a diva - yes, it is. Gotta switch out the converter soon, if that doesn't help I've gotta haul my butt over to the Fixing Stuff section on here.
  • Zebra G dip pen - various inks - Have you ever tried putting a slip-on reservoir on a G pen? It is positively ridiculous. Depending on how much you flex, you can get up to half a page out of one dip; maybe more. Doesn't seem to noticeably impact flex, either... although I'm not a calligrapher, just a hobbyist artist who's too fond of swirly things.

*On a similar note, I'll have to do some bookkeeping and then go on a Diamine ink buying spree.

**that said, the K316 is a good pen, which I am continuously impressed by... mine has a broad, stubby nib though, which is fun to write with, but brings out all the worst qualities in my handwriting. Plus, the weight distribution of the Picasso 915 suits my grip better.

Today I shall be using my Christmas pens for the last time.

From top to bottom:

Sheaffer 1996 Holly, which has been inked with Diamine Blue Velvet. Such a fun pen.

A Jinhao X450, inked with Diamine's sparkly Magical Forest. I really enjoyed this ink.

A pearl white Duke 600 Lady, inked with Diamine Poppy Red.

I really do enjoy alternating paragraphs of red and green over the part of winter just gone. So bright and cheerful, when the world can feel so monotone and grey.

For the last time?

@Roosterhead: Yikes, BSB is bright.

My pens for the day:

-14k M vintage Bock nib with an unknown piston filler attached - Diamine Saddle Brown. Neat!

-Faber Castell Loom, F nib - Pelikan royal blue. Nice pen, boring ink, gotta fix that soon.

-Kaigelu 316, nominally M but really a stubby B, Pelikan blbk. Wanted to see if the very dry blbk can rein in the very wet K316, and... well, I think the K316 is soundly defeated. A bit too much, in fact.

Have still so many pens inked from last week`s pen posse meeting that I`m still unsure if I should download all the ink into the sink or write them empty ;)

My Sailor ProGear & my Waterman`s 100 Year Pen got used more than the other lot in the past couple days.
