It is interesting how different the Blue Velvet looks between the MB 146 and the Visconti.

Just got my Aurora back from FPnibs.com

The pen arrived from the vendor as a horribly dry and scratchy medium nib with horrible inkflow. After some flossing and polishing, I ended up with a very wet medium nib, which was unacceptable, as I mostly use it for notes on copy paper at work.

I had the nib modified to a very crisp but smooth fine point that works really well on all kinds of paper, and I´m more than satisfied.

The result will give my Sheaffer Legacy some serious competition as my favourite EDC pen, and this is the pen I´m using today, and most likely the rest of the week.

Sorry about the cellphone pics.

Seeing as that's the second point someone's made to this effect, is there something wrong with my VP? No matter what ink goes in it it suffers from extreme nib creep. The nib has just come back from Mikeitwork and performs beautifully. But even with the original steel medium it was covered in ink. I thought it was normal.

It was a tight fit, so a little extra force was needed, but no mods.

... Never underestimate the power of human stupidity ...

Thanks for a very personal response! I do use a converter, and when I refill I squeeze a little of the excess ink back into the bottle. I've currently got it filled with Montblanc Irish Green and there isn't as much ink on the nib, but still more than I'd expect on a different pen.

My VP has seen daily use for coming up on two years now, and it's one of the few pens I don't baby. Interestingly, I bought it in the Blue on Rhodium trim because I found it LEAST attractive at the time and I wanted to encourage myself to use the pen as a workhorse rather than squirrel it away in a protective case in a desk at home like so many others.

Anyway, it's grown on me to become one of my absolute favorites. Back to my point, it sees a lot of hard work and has been dropped once or twice (nib retracted on carpet). I work in Marketing at a dealership too, so it tends to travel with me from the heat inside to the bitter cold outside while I review a car, or vice versa from the cold AC to hot and humid temps. Sometimes it gets left in a hot car, sometimes a cold car. So maybe the mechanism inside has suffered to some degree.

At the end of the day it works- it doesn't leak and doesn't dry out.

Beautiful pen SNAK, :)

Is it a special edition or custom version of the VP you are using?

^^^^^That's a handsome VP SNAK

Since I don't have a nice handwriting, I sketch with my pens. Currently I'm using the Duke Uranus 620 again. This time it's filled with Waterman tender purple. That gives an interesting colour to start my sketches with.

bemon, as you say, what matters is that the pen is working perfectly well and being loved.

I wonder if some ink droplets collect under the trap door when the pen has been jostled or the temperature fluctuated. In that case would washing the trap door area with water help? But then I am not sure if washing that area is recommended or not. I've never had to do it, and I would hesitate because of invisible mechanism inside there.

In any case, when I commented on Oxblood nib creep it caught my eyes because I thought it was striking and pretty!

Thank you da vinci, as far as I know, the Urushi Raden Capless pens are not special edition or limited edition in the sense that the production period or number is limited in any way. I think they are still manufactured now? There are 2 or 3 more Raden designs and I got the Minamo (Water Surface) because it looked to be the prettiest to me. But photos are nothing compared to the real raden pieces sparkling in your hand as you turn the pen. It's so distracting, it's not for real work for me but it may just be my problem. :D

Thanks parker, and your artwork is amazing as usual.

I like the pop the purple line drawing gives to the overall picture.

SANK, is the little white ball with the orange face just a decorative item? Probably too small to be a lamp.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Do you mean the little white and orange cat next to parkerwasmyfirstlove's Cotman palette? I assumed it was some sort of a stress ball or something but we shall wait to hear what he tells us, shan't we? :)
