Hi SNAK, how do you find the Kawecos keep up with those nibs? I have a Liliput I tried an italic nib in and it was too dry to function. Did they need any tinkering with?

LizB, your Liliput is also a Copper one from memory, wasn't it? I agree that Kaweco nibs and feeds tend to be on the drier side and I floss the tines of Kaweco nibs as a matter of course when I receive a new one. I think I got up to 1.9mm italic as a set of 3 italic nibs, and on those nibs I don't remember that I felt they were too dry, so you could try the feeds from their italic nib units, but I may have tinkered with them so I can't be sure.

When I put a vintage nib on a modern pen, I have to swap the feed as well and I had to do that with my Lilliput pens too. I get these ebonite feeds of roughly 5mm diameter from FountainPenRevolution quite cheaply, and have a good few of them along with random vintage ebonite feeds from parts pens etc. So I match up the vintage nibs and ebonite feeds and try them in the nib unit on modern pens' nib collars to see if I can get them to work. It's very much the case of trying and seeing, so the more spare nibs and feeds you have the better the chance of finding the right match.

Also using really wet inks (Rome Burning = baby diarrhoea, Herbin 1670 inks = super wet) helps too.

SNAK, magnificent pictures, as always, though one image doesn't resonate well in my mind!

Rome Burning = baby diarrhoea ...

Cheers,

David.

Thank you SNAK. I made the white lines with a cheap Signo uni ball in creme.

I have those! I should get the white one it seems mine are all gold and silver and metallic looking.

I clutch pens in a child-like manner, with three fingers and one underneath the section, all towards the end of the section just above the nib. I find it very uncomfortable writing with the MB 146 and 149, as well as with Platinum 3776 pens, for this reason.

Glad you like Perm Blue too.

I see. You prefer the paper to fingers distance fairly close.

Either your writing is super duper small, or your pen is super duper big. Or both.

Regardless, very nice. Is that your normal handwriting? I got used to (spoiled) seeing your beautiful scripts I forgot what your normal handwriting looked like. :)

writing with my wood pen.

Been looking for one for a long time.

( i cant be certain, I think this is real wood )

Very neat and easy to read handwriting. Thank you for making the review.

Beautiful scripts? I think you have the wrong person to be honest.

This is my writing when I have a nib that is wet and not too fine (but not a stub or an italic). I just use a simple child-like hand. fpn_1495018853__pel100n.jpg

When using a fine or extra fine then I tend to slant right and use cursive (hoping to approximate Spencerian or Palmer script or some such, but not really succeeding).

Fun day for me - trotting out the Visconti Homosapiens and Montblanc Andy Warhol for work today.

Aimlessly wandering Amazon I picked this up for next to nothing. Swapped in a Faber Castell nib section and it's like I'm writing in Lancelot's armor...minus the purity... Noodler's General of the Armies ink.http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b251/scotkane/IMG_8073_zpsjaazn0nd.jpg

In response to a pm from a member who asked what kind the wee bird was that makes an appearance in some of my posts. :glare:

Rather than explain it, I went onto the RSPB website and downloaded the fact sheet, which I've attached below.

Ok, so maybe I didn't. :P I was trying out some new paper, and found that it was ok with finer nibs, but not so great with the broad boys. And it was just a bit of fun, which is what it's all about after all.

And the pens used for this ornithological tomfoolery?

I also used a Jinhao x450, a Jinhao 500, an Italix Captains' Commission, and a Picasso 902 Gentleman.

Awesome Pelikan indeed!

I am impressed by the versatility that you (and Eli and skysora and Vaibhav and many others) have in mastering many different scripts.

nice colour combo with the background :)

Thanks maximme!

Love the Scottish Pen Hawk, Ian. It should be clutching an ink stick, rather than perched upon any old branch!

May the Pen Hawk capture many more of its prey species and prosper!

Ian,

Which ink did you use for the title, to the left of the St Andrew's flag? It is a lovely dark, rich blue, and seems darker than the blue that you finish off with "Caulae Vendo Alba".

Cheers,

David.
