I am in awe of your control of the flexible nib. Having read a lot on FPN about the virtues of flexy writing, a couple of years ago I spent too much money on a Mabie-Todd Swan 0160 with a nib that produced a line that varied from 0.3 to 1.4 mm in width. I am ashamed to say that it has sat in a drawer for 2 years because I just can't master the fine control of pressure required. I can produce wide lines and I can make thin lines, but not within the same letter! Your instantaneous control impresses me massively.

Oh, I too love the Safari – my favourite green ... until I buy that Alt Goldgrün anyway.

Cheers,

David.

My old Urban is one of the most reliable pens I own. Never misses a beat no matter how long (months) it goes without writing

Hats off! Everything's stunning here - your penmanship, your photography, pens and inks.

This arrived yesterday, no sketch this time along with the pen, just a beautiful Bexley Prometheus in Mint Chip.

Inked it up with Sailor rikyu cha. Impressive ink, impressive pen, couldn't be happier. Got it from Bexley over ebay for a very reasonable price offer.

This one is even slightly larger than my ebonite Prometheus.

So exotic...

vintage pen stand

The cornice from a now-demolished mental asylum, Greystone Mental Hospital, a "Kirkbride" building (google it; Kirkbride buildings are fascinating) that opened in 1876 and was shamelessly torn down in 2015, makes a nifty stand.

It's been a while since I've posted here. Just can't find the time to take good pics... Love seeing everyone else's, though. You folks have some awesome pens (and handwriting)!

Another beautiful image. Fabulous ink and your handwriting is wonderful: elegant style, consistent letter shapes and size, and all perfectly legible. Lovely.

Cheers,

David.

My handwriting isn't the best, i'm working on getting my cursive to the point where i'm comfortable posting it.

This is my everyday rotation, I just usually change the inks about once a week.

Brand new bottle of 54th Massachusetts, was a bit apprehensive seeing some of the reviews, ans was thinking about diluting it. But it looks great in a drier fine nib like my vanishing point, and almost feels as smooth as my Iroshizuku inks.

Whatever thread I was reading about the smell of inks.... the user that mentioned the unique smell of 54th was correct... it does have an oddly satisfying scent.

Scans of two ink/paper tests:

Both kinds of paper are almost similar and definitely FP-friendly. No feathering, even when writing with very wet inks/nibs. Almost no showthrough. Moderate feedback (not entirely unpleasant). Colour rendering is selective: most inks are showing their best, but appear a bit darker than usual, while others, so vivid when wet, suddenly seem a tad muted after drying.

Worth a try.

Eli, love your posts! And your signature made me less wondering if I'm cray with 16 inked pens...

Fountain pen novice. I am aquiring pens at a frightening pace, I am afraid it might be an addiction... I see I am not alone here on FPN! Latest acquisitions - Platinum 3776 Kumpoo with Diamine Eau de Nil, Opus 88 Koloro inked with Diamine November Rain, Franklin-Christoph Model Pocket 66 prototype inked with Franklin-Christoph Honeycomb.

Adding an old Montblanc 146 with a fine nib I just received a couple days ago to the mix along with one of my best writers, the Visconti Homo Sapiens with an EF nib. Inks are Edelstein Onyx and Iroshizuku Tsuki-Yo. Paper, nothing special, just a standard coiled notepad from work and hence the bit of feathering but all in all, not bad for the amount of ink put down.
