Don't Just Tell Us About The Pen You're Using *show* Us!, 2017

Diderot, fun pun. Glad you like-a. The camera in the background is a Nikon S2 rangefinder. I'm mostly a Leica guy. But iPhones have gotten so damned good ... well, you know the story.

When I was jumping to rangefinders many years ago, I compared Nikon vs Leica and went for the latter mostly for it's versatility - more bodies, more lenses etc etc.

Would have been better for my pocket if I'd chosen Nikon :D

Have fun.

Just filled the Kaweco Sport with Platinum Leaf green, because the Preppy which had the ink previously was constantly burping.

Also I filled the Orange TWSBI with Waterman inspired blue, because I liked the contrast :D

_InkyFingers has been busy and I'm thrilled with his work. I propose this particular grind be called a Stately Stub since it is somewhere between a formal italic and a classic stub.

Here is what it wrote like originally.

Here is what it looked like when he was done.

My handwriting is not as decorative.

Nevertheless, _InkyFingers Stately Stub makes even print look stunning.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

This was the nib that caused my metamorphosis from someone that possessed a Lamy Vista and an Al Star, both with medium nibs because it had never occured to me to use anything else, to a sad individual with an expensive lust hobby.

I see the world with OBB eyes nowadays.

Cheers,

David.

I came across a 75 OBB three or four months ago, and seriously considered pulling a trigger on it. Finally, I said to myself: "You have a 75 already, as well as a number of broad nibs. Why bother?" Your sample made me regret this "wise" decision.

All-American, I presume?

I have their factory 1.1 stub in a Mark Twain Demo, and like it a lot - it's smooth and wet. Here are some shots of the pen:

@EliWeisz I believe so. It's a loaner from Amberlea. The stock nib was not on par as yours was. I had to do some nib grind.

Lovely! I don't really want another Safari, but I bet that would be a wonderful partner for Noodler's Air Corp Blue-Black, an ink I've always enjoyed.

Wow! As usual, pen, ink, and handwriting are all exquisite. Which ink are you using? It might have to go into my "urgently needed" shopping list.

David.

Thank you!

The ink is Diamine Sapphire Blue.

Disappointed! That is my current go to ink, but it looks SO much better when YOU use it.

I took pics the other day but today I was using this a lot so I took the last (camera) photo as I was using it. I found that Kaweco Sport clips are a perfect fit, and this "raw bronze" older look model suits the pen.

Have you tried in a wet broad nib? In Fines and Mediums, it's far less spectacular ;)

a sterling reputation

33625830991_561653d00d_b.jpg

A small sterling silver Parker that I bought (along with a matching mechanical pencil that was missing its clip) from an antique mall cum flea market in NYC for about $50 -- maybe less says my increasing foggy recollection -- about 35 years ago. Pictured here with a sterling silver Rolex Prince wristwatch I bought in London at around the same time. I had Fountain Pen Hospital re-sac the pen shortly after I bought it. It has sat mostly unused in more recent years, but much to my delight the sac is still operable. It's going to get used more often now that I have rediscovered the joy of writing with a nifty tool in hand.

For size comparison, the silver Parker is pictured below next to a Duofold Junior (this one cost me five bucks back then and also got a new sac from FPH).
