Aw, sucks about the clip. I've had some issues with my K316 violently flinging its cap jewel at me at the slightest provocation, but that was at least easy to fix.

Heck, I need a trip to Spain at this point. Germany is not exactly the most aesthetically pleasing place to be stuck in. <...>

--

I'm pretty sure pretty most of those early aviation pioneers deserve to be crushed on - doing what they did takes a serious ability to kick butt... and probably a slightly lacking sense of self-preservation

<...>

My pens for the day - slightly inspired by eliweisz and also my deep love for Diamine Oxblood

(That Pen. I'm actually a little bit mad, because the finish looks pretty nice on here... but it's actually very flat, with no depth to it, and one half of the pen is basically just blue)

Everybody needs a trip to Spain, it seems. I'd like to go there, the sooner the better. But if you don't want to ship internationally, Saar Pen can take care of your nibs and leaks. Their price list is more "serious" than that of FPnibs, although.

--

"Lacking sense of self-preservation", you say? Exactly the case of Ms. Johnson who started taking lessons at flight school just because she wanted to die (sad love story, etc.). And she died flying, a decade and a half later, defending her country.

--

Inspired by ...? Can't believe I can inspire someone. Nice shots and great ink. Regarding your other post: yes, this Mighty Roo of yours really has a stubbish nib! Mine lays down a "regular" line with minimum variation.

This is my favourite ink at the moment. I had left it unopened for a few years thinking it must be just another black ink, along with some other backup bottles, but wow it smells lovely. Smells just like the Sumi ink that you use for dip pen calligraphy or brush calligraphy. It's got this earthy, calming, traditional scent. I am loving it. And yes, I just checked, my nose has black smudge on the tip. :lticaptd:

Refilled my Sailor 1911 Large Demonstrator yesterday. As it's the latest addition to my collection, I'm still looking for the perfect ink for this pen. First tried Sailor Tokiwa Matsu, but as it puts down quite a fine line, it didn't meet my expectations. So, this round I went for Iroshizuku Asa Gao, but so far I'm not too impressed, I guess that happens with such a fine line when you're used to seeing the same ink coming from a (not so) Fine Pelikan nib.

I'm thinking this pen needs a darker ink, so next fill will probably be Sailor Blue-black/Miruai/Souten or Diamine Sargasso Sea, as those are some of the darker non-black inks I own (other ink suggestions welcome :) ).

Now that's what I call a great nib shot! What ink have you tried? From my experience with 21K Sailor nib, I can tell that Diamine inks are more free-flowing Sailor Jentle. I have Souten in a ProGear II now, it's nice but a tad dry.

Trying out two new nibs!

Nice stubs. The first time a see a 03 in Coco Pearl (have a Coco F-C 45, and love it).

In the meanwhile, some fun with the Bock Twin. Dear Kaweco Sport owners, do your pen a favour, treat it to this fantastic, dependable and quite affordable nib! Wonderful for greeting cards and a lot of other tasks. Or just for nonchalant doodling ;)

guyinkits, great fountain pen and hand writing! how could you get such line variation with this nib?

I don't know. I tested it out and it had some flex so I started writing and voila! Ha ha. I don't know how else to answer. It isn't anywhere near as flexy as my vintage pens but still with just a bit more pressure, I can get the above. I didn't spring the nib so I know I didn't over do it.

Awww... Thanks man

Only had this pen for a few weeks now. So far only tried Sailor Tokiwa Matsu and Iroshizuku Asa Gao. Flow isn't really an issue, the line it puts down is just much more fine than what I'm used to, so my go to inks look quite different with this pen.

I have a Pro gear Slim too, which puts down a very similar line, so I know I can skip the inks I already tried in that like Sailor Souten, J. Herbin Gris Nuage (I thought it'd be funny, Cloud Grey ink in a Sky Blue pen, but the line it puts down is so light, it is almost invisible).

Anyway, I'll probably try Sailor Blue next (free up a cartridge for refilling when the perfect ink has been found). Then Diamine Sargasso Sea as it is pretty dark and like you said, might flow a little better.

... Never underestimate the power of human stupidity ...

Keep track of the progress in my quest for a less terrible handwriting here: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/262105-handwriting-from-hell-a-quest-for-personal-improvement/?do=findComment&comment=2917072

Sailor Blue goes really nice with this nib! Love the colour, too.

Tas, InkyFingers, and Eli, thank you for your encouragement on my previous post.

Today I have some of my Platinum Pocket pens to show you. Theses are the ones I could easily grab from my out of rotation drawers since the others are just everywhere in bags and different rooms, inked and kept inked since who knows when. But they just keep going and going without any maintenance whatsoever. I do like my Platinum Pocket pens better, for the purpose I use them for (purse pen, kept in cups, used randomly around the house with waterproof and bad-paper-proof Carbon Black ink) but I have quite a few Pilot and Sailor long/short pens too.

This is a Platinum family portrait for another thread.

Wow, you have made that Guider into a beautiful writer. It has a standard nib (I think it's a Jowo). I love the material.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I am enjoying this pen/ink combination. Jinhao X450 with a 1.1 stub nib.

That is certainly impressive.

Have you allowed the Jinhao feed unchanged ? How is the ink flow , given the greater demand from the stub ?
