The pen in use is Ranga Model 3C which I got from the Group Buy. The pen is fitted with JoWo 1.1 Dual tone nib and is inked with Diamine Eclipse.

I really love ebonite as the material for the pen and this white blue swirl is something amazing. You have to hold in the hand to actually see and feel the beauty of the material.

mehandiratta: That is a pretty cool ebonite swirl of blue and cream

Inky: I'm feasting, and wondering. How does the ink get to the nib? Is there a feed? or are you just using the body as a dip pen holder?

Skysora: loving the browns, and in that pen, of course...

So many beautiful pens and inks...

I'm feeling my writing is a little shaky this morning and I wanted to write a letter this afternoon so I've been doing some warm up writing to try and get into the groove. Then I got distracted having fun with four differently sized pens on my desk.

Still using the great FC music nib in time between meetings to practice this blackletter. It seems most suited to German, which I'm trying to learn in my spare time, so I figured I'd give it a shot in my abysmal, Google-assisted German.

It (should) read: This is a new blackletter font I'm practicing. I am still using my Franklin-Christoph Model 19. The ink is, of course, Pilot Iroshizuku Take-sumi.

@SNAK

I still haven't got a good source, I have some, at least enough for now.

Yes, I wish the FA nib wrote finer unflexed, but there's nothing I can do about that. If I ever get lucky on a vintage flex then i will be most happy. Rather unlikely to happen though.

I just noticed - Pilot, Sailor, River. It cannot be a coincidence. Is there a significance to these names in Japan?

Great that you got some TR paper, I hope it's making you happy. ;)

Lots of water in and around Japan, I think that's what it is. If you're surrounded by it you might as well make it part of your life.

Everything's fine with your memory - I had a rather tricky Left Oblique Medium Italic, and still keep it. But recently, I purchased a new Fine Cursive Italic nib/section unit from Mr. Ford, and cannot recommend it enough. And - thank you!

I'm glad my memory's still intact. Something about the look of that pen tickles my fancy, every time you show it to us.

A special hello to SNAK, hope your summer is going nicely!

Hello right back at you, David! :) It's wonderful to see you posting again on the thread. You are such an inspiration.

Summer has been busy as usual, with outdoor activities and sports and socialising, but now autumn is officially here, I hope to come back to more civilised activities...

Have time in between meetings today, so I filled a page in my Rhodia with the Iroha. It's a very old Japanese poem that uses all the letters in the alphabet. In English, it reads:

Colors are fragrant but (referring to flowers)

Will eventually scatter.

Who in our world

Is unchanging?

The deep mountains of karma

We cross them today

And we will not have superficial dreams

Nor be deluded.

One sad realization here is that since I have to jot down legal notes hastily all the time, my Japanese handwriting is now better than my English handwriting.

Your Japanese handwriting is indeed very very good!

I spent yesterday on "Jane duty", watching my four month old granddaughter whilst her parents were at work. My wife and I raised three sons so having a little girl in the family is a delightful change of pace. We took a lunchtime walk to a local eatery, where Jane preferred a booth.

I got it back after a short tussle.

Congratulations! She's a keeper, that's for sure. I'd bet you love doing Jane Duties.

You know she's claimed that MB as hers now, I can see it in her eyes. You need to change your will and make it official. ;)

I'm going to try one of them at a time and see. First up Toffee Brown:

I'm loving your Magellan paired with Toffee Brown. I look forward to seeing other ink pairings too.

Toffee brown is the best ink of the regular series from MontBlanc .. How much do you like it..

+1

The swirling on the end of the cap looks gorgeous. I love touching ebonite pens too, they feel so warm in the hand.

Nice flighters, Ian, and I love the TWSBI work with the italic nib. I'll bite. What's the deal with shaking a stick of celery at the moon?

Sorry for the delayed response Bob, allsorts going on at the minute.

It's just a line from an old comedy show that popped into my head when I was looking to write something.

I'm not really up to scratch with famous quotes or pearls of wisdom, so whatever "pops in" lands on the paper, and I did have a bit of a chuckle to myself when I wrote it, as it is indeed a pretty obscure line but in the context it was used it was very funny.

Ian I'm not sure about that phrase involving celery and the moon, but your writing sure is lovely with each of those "auld" pens.

Thanks David, fine nibs aren't normally my bag, but I can put up with them if they are on the end of a pen. :D

Thanks skysora

No matter how my handwriting has evolved and changed over the years, I still seem to have those so called "floral loops" that I had at school.

It must have been down to teenage flamboyance. :D

Pen: Pelikan M805 Anthracite Stresmann EF 18C monotone rhodium plated nib

Ink: Diamine Syrah

My wife is out of town on business so I thought I'd write her a letter about my day with our baby.

I once thought it´s a good idea to combine musical instruments and pens ...

First my father´s old violin and Graf von Faber-Castell Elemento Olive pen. Unfortunately I sold the Elemento - today I think it wasn't´ a wise decision .

The next "show" is a bit more colourful. The ASA Galactic Pens are beautiful eye-dropper pens. With the icy like texture different inks look great. And furthermore ASA shows that beautiful pens might not cause an explosion to your "pen budget".

Nice!

Pretty flexible. Does the FA nib require a lot of effort to achieve this line variation?
