Don't Just Tell Us About The Pen You're Using *show* Us!, 2017

The ink is Diamine Asa Blue. This pen is destined to leave here too. I have no need or use for nibs like this. Haven't decided on whether to sell it or give it away. As I am giving away the Balladeer it may be a loss too far for me to give this too, but if I find a suitable recipient I might.

Give it a chance before you move it on - you might like it. I don't 'need' my OBBs, but they are fun.

All my writing is done with fine / extra fine nibs. While the OBB is a short-lived laugh, I don't like having stuff lying about unused. It seems quite the waste, and hence the desire to divest.

My Parker Super 21 has a cap like a Parker 45, and a 51 Special filler (hoop).

Your cap looks like a normal Parker 51 GF cap. What sort of filler does it have?

It's a hoop filler. It does not say "special" nor "51" leading me to believe that my due diligence was lacking and I paid a 51 price for a 21. The nib is gold though, so Super 21? If the nib is compatible with the standard 51 size then I have a spare body I can swap it into. At the moment I have the "21" inked though coz I was playing with it.

Edit: the pen is significantly shorter and slimmer than a Mk1 51 (I have a real clunker in the pen cup).

Yes it is, and I am giving it away.

Edit: having done a bit of reading around I now believe this pen is actually a Demi. It has the hoop filler - doesn't say 'special' - a gold cap with a pearl 'jewel', and a honking great gold nib. It thinner and shorter than a standard Mk1 51. Of course it could be a frankenpen.

A very fun nib to use. I have two Parker 61s with similar nibs, I am also not sure if the nibs are original or ground. Your post tempted me to ink one of them :)

BTW: does anyone know were I can buy a 61 section? The black one has a crack and you get inky fingers.

A monster indeed!

Here, another (and the last) of the pens I have on loan since December '16. A large Monteverde, model unknown. With some classic Pelikan (120/140) styling cues, but much larger than those old Birds. Poor finish (badly corroded plating on clip and cap band; the latter went loose when I was cleaning the pen, and has been returned in place with two tiny drops of lacquer). Very smooth M nib - don't know if it's a Schmidt or Jowo. Surprisingly good writer.

Welcome! And what a fountain pen to discover so early in this hobby.

I am going to warn you though, the Pilot Custom 823 is going to ruin many other high end pens for you as it is one of my best writers. It is hard to get another fountain pen that could write better or even just as well.

After test driving a number of pens I had just restored for sale, it was time to fill my case with a couple of my favorites...and neither of these

will be found for sale during my lifetime..

Using these three pens in my journal today (hence no photos of 'real' writing, my journal is private :) )

Thank you! Practice, practice, and practice...

And once again, I'm impressed by the sheer beauty of your writing samples.
