What's Your Most Recent Mb Purchase? 2017

What color families do you prefer? And brand preferences? Such a glorious nib, I suspect you'll want something with killer shading.

Yes, something which shades well.

Darker side - blues or reds.

Infact I am relatively very new to FPs, and just love this nib.

I can readily get Diamine, J Herbin, Private Reserve, Pelikan and Montblanc brands. However, am looking at a safer ink which doesnot create a problem if left in the pen for 2-3 months.

I have found that with the red gold color of the 90 years nib the Montblanc Toffee Brown and Burgundy Red suit it best. If not I would opt for a dark grey, like the 90 Years Anniversary Permanent Grey.

+1. I also like the Lavender ink.

+1 one for Toffee Brown and Lavender. Own the latter and have seen awesome things come from people using Toffee Brown in broad nibs. Have a look at Tom Kellie's posts to see if any of his MB reds/burgundies are shades you like.

Herbin is the safest of what you have access to if you're going to neglect your pens, but the newer formulation also doesn't have the colors that the pre-EU interference gave. Blue Nuit would be your best choice for a dark blue in Herbin. Their reds are anemic at best.

Dropped off my first MB nib exchange today. Having the standard M nib on my Solitaire Blue Hour upgraded to my first BB. Never would have even considered a BB in the past, until I found this forum. A bunch of enablers here on FPN 😁✒️📝. Can't wait to get it back in my hands...

Does buying a jewelers cloth count as a new purchase? Because after just a week of pen use, the silver has tarnished quite a bit. But after a quick buffing ... I FEEL like it's certainly a NEW pen 😄. Here are the resultes of polishing a 1 week old Martele Sterling Silver. The cap has not been polished yet in this photo.

It was in today's mail. My new, lovely MB22 with BB nib.

I love these 1960's pens. They are so easy to open, clean and put back in great working conditions. And they write really well, being very lightweight.

This weekend I bought two box of pens, among the pens there was this 149

I've not yet inked it, but the pen seems to be in order and in great shape.

The 149 was in an anonymous box together with an unmarked sterling silver pen, whereas in the Montblanc box there was other three pens.

I paid a forfait for each box, and the price was quite good (much lower than what you can think :))

~ A Solitaire Blue Hour BB.

Now that's what this enabler would call a “terrific upgrade”.

I hope that the exchange won't take too many weeks.

Thank you for telling us this good news.

~ Thank you for the pen photographs.

As I've never seen an MB22, it was useful to see.

A BB nib?

That's more great news!

My vote is with Montblanc Irish Green, it's always in one of my 146's due to it's shading ability!

Just arrived in the mail from FPH, 2 bottles of MB JFK ink.

~ That sounds very nice.

What pen(s) might be inked with your MB JFK ink?

Now that is just lovely! Well done.

I only have one, a 1990-91 MB146 with 18k M nib. It is recent, and since I only have one, it is the MB I'm using today. Love it. Remain a dedicated Pelikan man, but this MB is causing me to ponder deflecting some of the budget for a 149...

Oh, lovely! That's been at the top of my wish list for years, but I think my kids eat money so haven't gotten one. Do I win longest time since last purchase? My 146 was in 06 or 07.

Thanks, yes 149s are nice pens.

I found this unused MB 149 desktop set from 1992, for very a good price.

Thank you for posting such beautiful photographs.

I admire the high quality of the images.

That's an exceptionally fine desk set. Enjoy!
