yesterday I visited my local MB dealer to try some Oyster Grey ink. Then I recognized the Meisterstück Ultra Black Le Grand in his window. I purchased the classic sized 145 version this summer and it became one of my favorite pens. So I could not resist and I bought the 146 yesterday. It matches the 145 and my ballpoint quite well and I love the combination of the Ultra Black pens with the Urban Spirit pouge. But to be honest: I will bring the pen tomorrow back to my dealer and they will send it to Hamburg to replace the nib into a F ...

First of all, congrats on your purchase!, I can comment on this model that when I went to a MB boutique some time ago, I hold it in my hands and the first thought was "this does not look MB made"... you know, because it's not shiny all over, but then it has been growing on me and now the Ultra Black Le Grand is in my wish list, maybe with a EF since I am planning to use it as a EDC, but maybe I will choose OB instead, I am not sure.

 

Anyhow, now I think the Ultrablack is a great pen to add to anyone's collection, enjoy yours and happy holidays!

I got me a new heritage 1912. It has a medium nib, but it's likely to go back to get something more fun

A word of caution, you may want to try one out before you send it off. I love broad nibs, and I love flexy nibs. I'm not so sure that I love broad flexy nibs. My two most flexible nibs are a 234 1/2 and a 1912, both were fine nibs. I had the 1912 swapped for an OBB and I can't say that I love it. Even with next to no pressure, I feel like it puts down an even larger and wetter line than my 149 OBBB, too wet in fact. Granted, the feed needs adjustment thanks to MB's "expert technicians" (aka stooges) that performed the swap, but still, if I had it to do over I don't think I would have made the swap.

Thank you very much. I am now on my way to the dealer for the nib exchange. Hoping it will not take weeks and weeks. So far I am going to have some fun with the Ultra Black 145 and my new Unicef Meisterstück 146 inked up with JFK ink. ;-)
