OK, this is not technically an MB, but it is at least a close cousin. It just came in the post today from another member here who was kind enough to remember my fondness for Brad's work.

My latest is a 146 fluted (or lined) sterling Solitaire. It seems to be from 1989-1990 (brass piston threads, 14k two-tone nib, non-striated grey window, W. Germany on clip--and no serial number).

Can anyone tell me when MB started and stopped making this model?

Thanks,

Daniel

There are some beautiful pens in this thread. Last month I bought a Montblanc Meisterstück Blue Hour LeGrand Pen from FPH in NYC and am loving it. The blue sparkles in the light and the pen writes so naturally.

This one came last month. Sixties era #14 I believe. I'm not familiar enough with these nibs to say for sure but I'm guessing BB. Cute little pen, though I doubt it will be a frequent flier here.

Congratulations, shybiker. I bought the same pen nearly two years ago. It is indeed a beautiful pen. I originally inked it up with Blue Hour ink but I have since paired it with the Tolstoy ink which I like much better.

That's interesting. Thanks for the tip.

Nothing too exciting. I picked up a NOS bottle of MB Green ink from the late 1980s in the old shoe bottle. Regular green, not the later Racing Green so many folks love.

Just received a very nice early 1960s 149, with tri-tone 14c BB nib and press fit piston mechanism. Unfortunately, the piston was installed so there's a tiny gap when the turning knob is fully closed and I am not confident enough in my abilities to attempt to adjust it myself.

With most of my pens being Fine or EF, the BB is a fun departure.

Is the gap between the ring and the body or the ring and thr piston cone? If thr former you can heat the barrel and push it the rest of the way in. If the latter it would mean you have to take the assembly apart which is risky.

It's between the ring and the piston cone, which suggests that whoever last assembled it didn't thread the mechanism quite right.

But I love this nib:

early 2000 149 with a B nib. It's now with a nibmeister who'll turn the nib into a stub or cursive italic.
