Pen and paper are compliments of bobje, love the Wing Sung pen, and pleased to find a Mead Composition notebook that has decent paper in it. The pen takes a nib in the style of the Lamy nibs for Safari, Studio, etc. I fitted one of my Lamy nibs that is reground to an Italic Fine, had to tighten the gap to make it work. But it works very nicely. Have to give it to the Wing Sung factory, it is not every day that one can tick off two major pen manufacturers at the same time. Challenge the Lamy factory and provide a knock-off TWSBI for $2.00 per pen.

David, great that you are working on copperplate now. I had a lot of fun learning the script, taught me a lot about pens and patience that I needed to learn. Post, post, post! We want to see how you are progressing.

Enjoy,

Yours,
Randal

From a person's actions, we may infer attitudes, beliefs, --- and values. We do not know these characteristics outright. The human dichotomies of trust and distrust, honor and duplicity, love and hate --- all depend on internal states we cannot directly experience. Isn't this what adds zest to our life?

Hi! Here is my vision of the quote. It's not really physics, it's more like mathematics, but anyway ... :) The morning sunrise added the right accent (about physics) to sketch :).

Hi, Prasad,

Love the Ronde. Ornate but easily read. Enjoying the Bril Turquoise ink.

@Andrew,

Looks like you went crazy with the math quotes. Thanks for putting up the Wilczek quote, wasn't familar with his work. Fascinating physicist.

Enjoy,

Randal

Wow, Randal, that is some precise, tight italic. Nice sun flare on the photography.

Oooh.

What is the pen in the bottom of the picture? It's GORGEOUS! (The calligraphy is quite nice, too, BTW.... Love the rubricated capitals.)

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Hi, Bob.

That's my smallest, tightest hand. The miniscules run right around 1 mm in height. My note hand for the 3.5 X 5 " agenda.

The photo is taken on my table with the window just to the right of the page. Early morning sun pours through the pane and gives a lot of nice effects.

Enjoy,

PS: Thanks so much for the pen and paper for this week's quote.

Yours,
Randal

Hi, Ruth.

The pen beneath the quotation is a Pelikan m620 "Piccadilly Circus." The M620 City Series and Famous Places Series Limited Editions are my favorite Pelikans.

Thanks for your kind words.

David

There is so much beautiful calligraphy in this thread, it made me want to start practicing, too. This was written with a Kaweco Sport with a 2.3 mm italic nib.

Well, ksm, your italic looks fine to me. A bit of the "back to basics" always helps, though. Hope you are busy in a happy, helpful way.

Enjoy,

Yours,
Randal

Three months without practice, and the spacing if awful, especially on the first line. Randal is right, “back to basics” will help.

An attempt at constructing and spacing block capitals. It is much harder than it looks, at least initially.

Some may call it quantity over quality, but for me it was an exercise in consistency. I've used five out of six currently inked pens (remaining one was used in previous quote).

What a wonderful thread. A little motivation to stay in practice and creative. I need it!

@hh1990:

I'm glad you've showed courage to join this thread. What script do you learn? Your sample shows serifs characteristic of Foundational, but single story minuscule `a' is more in line with Italic.

@Kol288:

I like the composition, hope to see more of your practice in this thread.

New blood! Welcome, hh1990 and Kol288. I hope you enjoy putting up a quote or two. And, Kol288, you need to look up a quote for us for next week!
