I will abstain from commenting on this quote  but I love the handwriting, thanks for sharing!

As will I. Agree with both sentiments you express.

Yours,
Randal

From a person's actions, we may infer attitudes, beliefs, --- and values. We do not know these characteristics outright. The human dichotomies of trust and distrust, honor and duplicity, love and hate --- all depend on internal states we cannot directly experience. Isn't this what adds zest to our life?

As no quote has been submitted for this week, I'd like to offer this as a suitable replacement. I've no idea as to the source.

"What is written without effort is, in general, read without pleasure".

"What is written without effort is, in general, read without pleasure".

It is attributed to Samuel Johnson.

Thanks for the information :)

Ken, what a well-balanced presentation, and lovely flourish on the final 'p'!

Do you have suggestions for students as they are taking their first steps into flourishing? Most of what I've read about flourishes comes from Eleanor Winters' book comparing italic and copperplate. If you have suggestions on exercises to start, or perhaps another reference work, please let us know.

As I don't want to sidetrack this thread by going off subject, I've replied on a new topic titled -

"Flourishing - some basic principles"

Thank you for this generous consultation, Ken, and great idea to make it an independent thread. What a precious resource for all of us!
