Very nice indeed! But not fair. My resistance to learning pointed pen styles is weakening.

BTW - wasn't it Bobje's turn to select a quote for this week?

So he did.

the cat half awake

and half sleeping on the book

"Quantum Mechanics"

David,

About that Visconti Stub... I do not suppose I'll be able to afford one in foreseeable future, but I would like to hear about its properties. Is it such a wet noodle as they say?

@countrydirt:

Your italic is a bit too angular for my taste, but very legible otherwise.

What is nib width of your Pelikan?

It's just labeled with an I, so I'm guessing about 1 mm. It is pretty fat and doesn't really give much crispness but provides for some interesting effects with cursive.

The Palladium nib is springy, but not a "wet noodle" by any means. It is wet (generous ink flow), and, while it has a bit of flex, I don't believe it is intended to be used for line variation. IMO, the best use of this nib is with a feather-light touch. Then the feel of writing with it is very pleasurable.

Meant to get this up yesterday or the day before, but misplaced a flash drive and had to dig out a different one.

I had to play with the image a bit, because the .jpg didn't seem to come out to be the right color when I transferred the file to my laptop -- it was flattened and so high-contrast that it looked like black ink on white paper (when in fact it was Noodler's Kung Te Cheng on creme colored Tomoe River paper).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Would love to join this thread. Great idea for practise Salman.

This weeks attempt is done with a dip pen, hope that is ok. Shall do some fountain pen writing in the next quotes. Practising using Salman's Copperplate tutorials and a little Ornamental Signature for signing it.

Iron gall ink, Gillott 303 nib and Excel Pro 160gsm Printer paper with guidelines printed on it.

Happy writing all

Here is my submission. I figured this quote should be done in more of a handwriting style and decided to copy one of my favourite Biran Walker pieces. I could use more practice writing like this but am out of time this week.

Paper: No-name copy paper that takes ink well

Ink: Noodler's Black thinned with water

Nib: Gillot 303

Prasad, love your capital letters, especially the W.

Salman, that submission is so eccentric, and capital D and B are funky like a stretched Lincoln Continental!
