Seafoam Green Mix

Hello All!

 

In my quest for the perfect teal- green mix, I have been tirelessly scouting ink reviews... However, much to my dismay, not many of them are readily available in India. Options are fairly limited to Diamine, J. Herbin, some colours from Private Reserve, and some from Mont Blanc. So I played mad scientist instead.

 

This mix uses Diamine Marine and Kelly green. Unfortunately, I added random quantities of ink till I had a colour I liked, so I don't have exact proportions. However, I will mix some more when I run out of the current batch, so I'll post ratios then if anyone's interested!

 

On to the ink itself... I have had it mixed in an ink bottle for two weeks and in a (disposable) pen for over a week with no reactions atall so I am certain the mixture itself is stable. As I was hoping, mixing two well shading inks meant that this particular mix also has good shading properties and it looks fetching. I am very satisfied with it; it's the exact colour I was looking for, shades well, and has no flow problems.

 

Dry time on Rhodia is a bit prolonged (around 35 seconds from a wet pen) but I don't really mind. Water resistance is zilch.

Yes, but I don't really like their inks. The black is more like grey and the blue is rather watery. Mixing the red and blue inks gave me a rather nasty reaction with particulate matter floating over the top. The black and red inks give an absolutely beautiful mix <3

 

I like Chelpark inks a little better. They have a turquoise blue that is very pretty.

 

I have an order of Krishna inks coming in, so I'll give you an update on them if you'd like?

I'd love to see the Krishna inks, they have looked very nice.

 

How about Bril inks?

I find that Bril royal blue reminds me too much of school so I generally avoid it. I prefer Bril violet. Bril red is too pink for my taste, not a true red at all. Bril turquoise is a great blue that reminds me of the writing samples I've seen of Iroshizuku Kon Peki. I like it.

 

They are in general well behaved inks with good dry times, though some of them do have a distictive smell that bothers some people.

Hey Amber,

 

Here are the promised ink swatches of Krishna inks. I will try to do a more comprehensive review with better photographs over the next week or so. Till then, I hope you like the look of these. Personally, I love them. Dr. Sreekumar has done a beautiful job- they are vibrant colours that all remind me of the Kanjivaram and Kanchi Pattu silk sarees from South India

 

 

 

 

It would appear that Pomegranate has some sheen with heavy pooling...

 

 

Such gorgeous colours. I hope this isn't off topic...

They are very interesting. I have Mangal, Gold Rush, and Bronze Leaf inked up and they are gorgeous autumn-y colours. Considerably brightened up my ink pallete.
