Visconti Saturno Or Homo Sapiens?

I received a beautiful le Visconti saturno in green as a gift. It has a fine palladium dreamtouch nib. A Homo sapiens has been a grail pen for me and I am trying to decide do I keep the gift or return and get the hs, which would be a price jump from the return.

 

There isn't much about the saturno except one or two reviews I found online. Was it a flop?

 

Appreciate any thoughts on the matter.

I have a green and blue Saturno and they are excellent writers and very good looking.

The Saturno and the HS are totally different pens. I do not have the Saturno, but I do have a number of Van Goghs.

 

The Saturno is a much lighter pen and less bulky. The plastic is beautiful - and, in fact, probably my next purchase will be a green Saturno.

 

I do like the Homo Sapiens too, but it handles totally differently from the Saturno/Van Gogh class. As I said, bulkier and less precise. The nibs are the same.

I've never tried a Saturno but the homo sapien line is one of my all time favorites. The size, weight, cap, etc are all just about perfect for me.

Go for the HS 100%. Sure the lack of a ink window and the somewhat low ink capacity compared to other Visconti pens (even the HS LEs) might bother you but you won't find another pen made out of 50% volcanic rock that is pretty much indestructible that also looks quite elegant and has a great size/weight/balance to it.

I do like my HS, but it did take me a bit to get used to it. Now it writes fairly well, not as nice as my Pelikan 800s, but It does get it's turn in the rotation. I do believe we get used to the pen and not the other way around. I like the nice wet line and the material is interesting, I do wish it help more ink, but you can't have everything.
