Montblanc Red Gold 149 Obbb

I used to say that... now I say "I'm SO glad I bought that 149 Rose Gold O3B, it's one of my FAVORITE pens!" ;)

My boutique was telling me about the circus 149, I got intrigued, then I came on here and saw it was cancelled.

I would be all over it if there was a ultrablack 149.

Depends on the copier paper. I have a 90th O3B that behaves very nicely.

I had an incredibly tough week. Picture of Zuji just made me smile. He is an angel.

Got my 146 back with my first MB oblique nib, an early 90's montone 14C OB nib with nice line variation. Your wonderful pictures here inspired me to get it. Will post pictures later when I have a chance.

What paper do you use with these fat nibs, I can't imagine this nib would fare well to copier paper?

Depends on the copier paper. I have a 90th O3B that behaves very nicely.

~ Blueberry567 and Remedial Penmanship:

Thank you for raising and considering the issue of which paper best suits OBBB and other wider nibs.

That's an ongoing investigation, comprising testing of different grades of paper.

Both Pravda and Ghost Plane have been helpful in sharing their own experience in seeking out fountain pen friendly paper.

As Remedial Penmanship has noted, copier paper is often excellent, depending on which variety is used.

Coated paper is unsuitable, as is lighter weight paper. There are certain copier papers which take ink from a broader nib with style.

Aside from well-known fountain pen friendly paper like Clairefontaine or Tomoe River, my most reliable paper was the result of a chance observation.

A student wrote an in-class test on cream colored ‘mathematics homework’ paper which turned out to have no feathering or bleed-through.

Finding readily available paper which is satisfactory for Montblanc or Diamine inks in B, OB, BB, OBB or OBBB nibs is continuing research.

I hope that you'll find paper in your respective local areas which suits your pens and writing style.

Both Zuji and I are delighted by your wonderful comment.

Thank you so much!

At nearly 21 weeks old Zuji is becoming more of a small dog without unpredictable puppy behavior.

Your monotone 146 OB sounds terrific! Lately monotone oblique nibs have been on my mind, therefore it was a nice surprise to read that you are using one.

The line variation is especially positive news. If it's ever convenient and comfortable to do so, an image of handwriting or strokes from your pen would be most welcome.

If the images in this thread have encouraged you to acquire your 146 OB, I'm deeply honored and grateful to know it.

May your new pen be as satisfying to you as my OBBBs have been for me.

Tom, et al,

Thank you for inducing and introducing us to the oblique world filled with line variation (and wet nibs!)!!

Writen with Montblanc Irish Green and Gaius Maecenas with an OB nib.

PS: The bag with the Red gold OBBB looks amazing..! (and so the wishlist grows...!)

That is lovely. Really does wonders with the ink.

Thanks. The nib really brings out all the brilliance and character of the ink for sure.

Acquired this early 1990s 146 with monotone OB nib.

Wow! I have a thing for monotone nibs, regardless of the color. They just look rich! :)
