My O3B arrived today.

I suspect it has a bit of baby bottom. Nothing that can't be fixed. Otherwise, it writes perfectly.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. On one hand, I do find it attractive to some extent, although I'm not sure whether I like it because it's actually beautiful, or just because it's different.

On the other hand, I have a feeling it's a bit too broad for my small cursive handwriting. However, I used to feel the same about the medium nib, which today feels just fine. And I remember sending my first 149 with an F nib back to Montblanc to have it replaced with an EF, because the F felt too wide. So, I don't know. Perhaps I'll get used to it, and a couple of months from now anything thinner will feel too thin.

What do you think? Is my handwriting too small for this nib? Note especially the lowercase e, which is often totally closed.

How does it look to you?

I'm loving the puppy photos! Whenever I'm writing in my journal, Julie is usually in my lap just rubbing her cheeks on the edge of the table or pushing against my hand begging for pets and scratches :)

I'm glad you were able to find a forever home for the adorable Zuji. Julie doesn't like to make full, natural vocalzations either. She is a grunter or a "mrrrrr" whenever she wants something. She has found a spot on a shelf in my closet that she bolts to whenever the closet door opens to roll over and look at me waiting for scratchs, but she has also become very good at responding to light claps or snaps indicating that it is time to leave the closet. She never fails to to grunt or give a "grrr, why?" noise at me while exiting.

Grantmm - you've discovered what I've been telling people for YEARS. Danged "experts" kept me from pen nirvana for years with their "rotation" pontification. But do THEY actually write with them? No!

So what makes them "experts" on obliques?

When I first saw your superb handwriting post I marveled at the clarity of the letters written with your newly arrived 149 OBBB.

May I please ask which 149 it is? Platinum? Red Gold? Yellow Gold?

The use of Montblanc Royal Blue brings out the ability of OBBB nibs to produce attractive shading.

Your penmanship looks lovely to my eye. You're more adept at writing well with an OBBB than I am.

There's nothing about the size of your handwriting which is impaired by the nib.

When my first OBBB nib arrived, it took about ten days before I finally adjusted my expectations to fit the nib.

I'd long relied on Montblanc EF nibs, therefore the OBBB was quite a contrast.

Within a few weeks you may find that your OBBB has filled a special place in your writing tool collection.

Congratulations on its arrival.

May you enjoy many years of deeply satisfying writing with the pen.

Tom, which one out of the 3 MB 149s is your favourite?

~ PandP:

Honestly, they're all three my favorites.

I thought about your question over the past day.

Each of them provides such an outstanding writing experience that no one of them stands out.

They're my daily writers on quality paper, where they shine.

Each type of precious metal is lovely in its own way.

Thank you so much!

Your very kind words have brightened the late evening.

Little Zuji is sleeping in his puppy basket, immediately behind me.

Thank you so much for your kind encouragement.

Julie's vocalizations are remarkably similar to the set of soft sounds Zuji uses to convey his feelings.

Zuji responds to claps with vigorous running. He has verve when it comes to toss and fetch playing.

If I click or make staccato sounds he'll come to me, tail slowly wagging.

He causes laughter when he mews, whines and makes petulant sounds at recalcitrant toys.

A finer and more diverting writing partner could not be found.

I'm so glad that Julie does the same for you. I like your inclusion of a sketch of her.
