Six weeks have passed, and still no news from Montblanc. I'm seriously considering cancelling the order. :(

~ Vlad Soare:

What ?!?!?!

Six weeks of silence?

What's going on with Montblanc and nib exchange OBBB nibs?

Why are receiving such disconcerting service? Not even a general update of any sort?

Below, from another thread by Dcharles concerning his long wait and disappointment when waiting for a 149 OBBB, are my comments about service in mainland China.

I feel so sorry to read this, Vlad Soare. This greatly disappoints me, as I've regarded Montblanc nib exchange service as being reliable and timely.

Vlad, don't give up hope. It will be completely worth it in the end once you hold that steamroller of a beautiful nib in your hands. It is a marvelous experience. Each day that has gone by means you are a day closer to receiving it :)

~ At about 9:20 pm this evening, less than one hour ago, I was laying on the sofa reading a book about Ella Fitzgerald.

My 8 week old puppy, Zuji, was sleeping in his crate, in his special fenced area.

The floor began jolting back in forth in a shaking motion, with loud creaking noises in the apartment.

When I sat up it was difficult to walk.

The noticeably rhythmic shaking lasted for more than ten seconds, possibly twelve to thirteen seconds.

It persisted so long that I worried whether or not the building might collapse.

Zuji was awake and sitting by the dog fence, as near to me as possible. It’s the first time he’s ever gotten up at night.

When I picked him up, he acted scared, burrowing his head into my arm and shoulder, which is unlike his typical behavior.

I went downstairs where all neighbors were gathered in the street, talking about it. Older ladies demonstrated a shaking motion to me.

The mobile phone service stopped for over five minutes. No text messages or calls could be sent.

Students have sent text messages to me saying that the earthquake was 6.5, centered in Sichuan’s Aba County.

This is the largest and longest earthquake that I’ve experienced in China.

I’ve experienced comparable earthquakes decades ago in Japan, and long before that, in Los Angeles, California.

The most distinctive aspects were the duration and the unmistakable shaking and rocking motion.

Tom, I am relieved to see your post and to hear that you and your canine companion are safe and well. It must have been a very disconcerting experience for you both.

Oh my goodness! I still remember my first quake. I had no clue what was happening and my cat immediately came to me. We clung together through the aftershocks watching the ceiling lights swing on their chain.

I much prefer the long rollers to the sharp jerks.

Glad you're both okay. Lots of praise for your smart puppy who knew where (who) safety lay.

~ da vinci and Ghost Plane:

It was disconcerting to hear the strange rattling of the 90th Anniversary 146 B nib inked in Meisterstück Blue Hour, which I'd been using to mark key passages in the book.

The 3rd floor room swayed back and forth with a rumbling and moaning from the walls and ceiling.

The Pug puppy, Zuji, was uncharacteristically alert, seeking to be near yours truly. Did he hear the rumbling before it was felt through the apartment structure?

Elderly retired professors and their families were gathered on the street in groups under sodium vapor lamps.

There were cracked windows, tumbled-down canned goods, and large items moved out of place.

We're the largest major urban area near the earthquake epicenter, hence the effects were more noticeable here than in larger cities which are farther away.

From now on I'll think of the 146 B as my “earthquake pen”!

Have Zuji and the 146 recovered Tom?

Hopefully there have been no more tremors and you can feel safe again too.

~ da vinci:

The 146 is back in use, and Zuji is once again chasing his puppy toys nd hoping for pieces of freshly steamed chicken breast.

There were small aftershock jolts here. Windowpanes have shattered and canned foods fell down.

The sheer power of the rhythmic shaking and rolling of the apartment building was a vivid reminder that Earth is a geologically active planet.

That's my only 146, as I typically use 149s with a couple of Classiques for detail work. Nevertheless, the 146 is now indelibly my “earthquake pen”.

Thank you so much for your very kind thoughts.

"The sheer power of the rhythmic shaking and rolling of the apartment building was a vivid reminder that Earth is a geologically active planet."

That is one of the most thought provoking and rather scary things I have read in some while!

Glad things are beginning to get back to normal. Take care :)
