Well, I'm not expecting it for a few weeks, but I have managed to track down a Pilot Decimo with an EF in the color I wanted (Grey) thanks to Martin Ferguson.

Pilot Decimo in grey? Post pictures when you got it please!

Absolutely!

They also make Decimos in Dark Blue (which would have been my second choice), Black, and White. NONE of which are available in the US normally -- we're limited to the four colors Pilot has decreed are for the US market (Red, Light Blue, Purple -- really lavender -- and that absolutely hideous Champagne Pink ). The only ways to get one of the other (non "girly" colors) AFAIK are Jet Pens, eBay, or -- in my case -- knowing someone who has a source. The thing that is most annoying about all this is that Pilot markets ALL the colors of the standard size VPs, or nearly all of them, here. But for those of us with smaller hands, for whom a VP is too heavy? Naaaah, we get the "pretty" colors, on the grounds that no "real men" would want something small. Which is ironic, because a friend of mine has WAAAY bigger hands than me -- and he gets amusement from using stuff that are the size of the old Peter Pan pens (okay he also has some huge Cleo demonstrator...; and he doesn't like nibs narrower than a B... B)).

Apparently Pilot would not understand my fervent desire for my Pelikan M405 Anthracite Stresemann either.... Back when they first came out with the M800 size I was going "Way too big -- but if they ever made one in an M400 size I'd be lining up the minute I saw they were for sale, and damn the price!" But no. In Pilot's eyes I'm only entitled to the "girly" colors because, well, I have boobs. :glare: (I'd love to know how many women in Japan wanted the grey as much as I did).

Sorry for the rant -- I don't know where that soap box that appeared under my feet came from....

Two M400s, a red-striped and a blue-striped, should arrive next week.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

If I were to dream about a Pelikan the grey would be right at the top of my list too, even if that new brown swirly one is rather nice.

Will work for pens...

I got really lucky on the M405 Stresemann -- due to circumstances which will never ever happen again, I had a major shopping budget this year. And the Anthracite Stresemann, and an M405 in Striated Blue, were the "no-brainer" purchases.

Of course those two pens ALONE made a sizable hole in my discretionary funds....

Three aerometric Parker 51s (one 1949 forest green, one black and one midnight blue from early 50s), a Parker stripped Duofold, a burgundy Sheaffer snorkel Valliant, a beautififul Pelikan 400NN brown tortoise and a Parker 180.

It's even more beautiful in person. The stripes are a darker grey than the more silvery-looking stripes shown in the product shots. This pen is the business end of the stick.

My Fritz Schimpf special edition Montblanc 146 Platinum Italic has made it as far as Dallas, but got held up there because DHL insists that I pay customs duty on it. I did this yesterday as soon as I found out what the delay was, but they still have not released the package. The nice folks at Schimpf are trying to get things expedited on their end, but no luck so far.

DHL is the worst shipper about this. They are sticklers for complying the the customs regulations. If European vendors insist on using DHL, it would be a lot more efficient for them to prepay the duty to DHL and incorporate it in their shipping costs. As it stands, there was a two-day delay in notifying me that I needed to pay duty, and now another two-day delay in getting the package released. So much for German efficiency.

Grumble.

I'm also waiting for a Pelikan M620 Athens, accompanied by an assortment of Binder-customized nibs.

The new Pineider Key of Heaven special edition is making its way to me from Bryant at Chatterley.

Still waiting on the Pelikan 140. Went to the PO on 12-7, last update is 12-13 - I'm hoping that one means it departed Italy that day. Not expecting it by Xmas now but you never know.

P.S. - The 2 M400s arrived today (Friday).

Just won a mint NOS Pelikan Spirit of Gaudi on the Bay of Evil. Paid too much, but there were others who wanted it as well. I have been looking for one of these for a long time. No more new pens for awhile.

... No more new pens for awhile.

Yeah, since I just got a near noodle Cameron 74 Hindoo, and the astonishing three-tined Osmiroid music nib, plus on the opposite end of the scale, the single hardest nib I've ever come across in a mint K&J Super Pen, that's what I'm thinking.

No more new pens for a while... unless... one of *those* comes up, of course, then I might have to consider it... just consider mind... or, unless, possibly...

Six Pelikans between 11/13 and 12/12, plus the M405 on 10-6. :yikes:

Theoretically, I shouldn't need anything more for a while. Theoretically.

Grats on the Gaudi! I had to eugoogly it, very striking.
