Diamine Lilac Satin

Pentulant

Recommended Posts

I'm finally getting around to opening and swabbing my newest Diamine Shimmertastic Inks.

There is definitely an issue with My bottle of Lilac Satin. The smell of mold was super-strong. I'll be tossing it.

Posting to let others know my experience and ask if anyone else has had the same issue.

The others seem to be just fine.

Mine too. I bought mine from WonderPens in England. It's so pretty that I use it with a dip pen. That's too bad...it's a lovely color.

I did email Diamine about it. As I am in the US and bought it from England, I won't be returning it. I'll wait until they fix the problem and buy another bottle.

Received today from Phil Davies at Diamine:

Dear Susan

Thank you for your email

I am very sorry you are unhappy with your purchase

You mentioned that it is only a smell not a visible mold growth.

One of the components used in the manufacture of violet coloured inks can have on occasion have musty smell, rest assured we use some of the most effective antifungal agents available in the market place today and I am confident this is not a mold issue.

I hope this puts your mind at rest

Kind regards
Phil Davies

Thank you for posting. I'm not sure I'll use it in a pen. It reallllly smells, and with the sparkles, I'm not sure I'd see any goop in there.

I can totally concur with Phil's comments; not about this ink but Diamine Graphite. That too has a musty smell and is purely down to the constituents and dye components.
