Proctor's Ledge - Noodler's Le Ink

Noodler’s is one of the companies that don’t need any introductions. Nathan Tardiff is a legend and his work is well known by fountain pen and ink afficionados. Not everyone is crazy about Noodler’s inks but I enjoy most of the ones I’ve tried so far.

Proctor's Ledge was one of Noodler's LE Inks from limited materials made for New England pen show - Commonwealth in 2015. Proctor's Ledge, and the illustrated bottle label, is a memorial to the 19 innocent victims of the Salem Witch Trials that were hanged at this particular site.

The ink is really wet and dark. It's brown but in some pens and on some papers it can appear almost black. The ink is water resistant and fluoroscent. It behaves well. I wouldn't mind owning a bottle of this one. Sadly it was LE ink so I'm going to enjoy the rest of the sample.

#9 Suma Purple and #32 Tamon Purple Gray and #3 Sepia sort of bracket this for a similar effect on paper. They seem much more colorful in the bottle than the subtle murk you get on the page. Check the reviews of Kobe inks.

Your color representation is perfect, whatever color it is. One thing I noticed on a wet paper towel is that the pink/red separates away from the darker pigments. This is obvious the next day after the towel dries.

I find that strong blacks bite my eyes, whereas this muted black / brown ink from Noodler makes extended reading a little easier. I do like the purple and pink undertones too. Does anyone know the risk of staining demonstrator pens with this ink?

I've got it in a Platinum Preppy now. I see nothing obvious, but will let you know.

As usual with Noodler's ink, I bought it for the label. I had an ancestor accused & jailed during the Salem Witch Trials. She was elderly & died soon after being released. I do like the color of this ink & will 'break the seal'.
