It looks like the Petrol Safaris will be out fairly soon. I have noticed that pen retailers are putting out their listings for it and that typically happens within a month of release.

Goulet told me this week for the Al Star and April for the Petrol... and they THINK there will be a matching ink for it.

I love the Safari color, but the matte. Matte on the Safari feels too brittle for my tastes. :(

For me the matte finish feels a little better from a grip standpoint and does not tend to show tiny scratches like the gloss finish Safaris.

That last picture shows the color pretty well. I can't tell, though, whether that's a black nib or a silver nib. Either way, I'll be getting it in a stub. I love stubs, and they seem to write better (to me) than the regular nibs of Lamy's. Love the ink color. I tried Lamy Coral ink once and it seemed very dry to me; so dry I had to try another brand of coral for that pen. But we'll see. If I can I'll get a sample of it first.

I like Al-Stars better than Safaris, but that color is my favorite, so I'll have to get the pen. For sure. Do I need another pen? Heck, no. Oh, well. I just love that color!

I'm new to Lamy and I think it is neat they do these special colors. I'm looking forward to picking up a Petrol in medium nib.
