Asa Maya: A Review Of A Dream Pen

I appreciate the assurance! That makes the wait that much more pleasant :) .

I'm very happy with my Nauka eyedropper (though I *did* swap in a JoWo nib). I prefer the Maya as a cartridge converter for two reasons: (1) I tend to like changing inks fairly frequently, and eyedropper pens have *massive* reservoirs; and (2) it's harder to tell how much ink you have less in an ebonite pen, whereas the translucent Nauka makes it easy... [i'm sorely tempted to buy the blue translucent Nauka, but so far I've been able to resist...]

That said, I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with the Maya - it's a great pen for the price!

I agree. If the Maya works out as well as the reviews say, I wouldn't mind buying another in a 3 in 1 and having both. If I need a larger or smaller section, I'll buy a 3 in 1 in another model probably. It's just so different a design and size than anything i've used that I'm happy to try out the ebonite eyedropper since I love ebonite and ebonite feeds, and I feel there is potential I may prefer it. But even if I did, I'd probably still get a 3 in 1 on top of it ;) .

I've gone through so many pens from $2 to $200 that I feel like I've honed in on what I prefer and I'm very happy to find ASA offering pens that are supplying that preference without saddening my wallet, potentially allowing me to have a variety at my bullseye. And I really like their designs and that they offer a nice variety along varying preferences.

Cuz I'll tell ya, I haven't found anything close to as comfortable as an ebonite pen. I'll take the trade off of ebonite's opacity for comfort any day.

For those who ponder about its dimensions, I have measured the dimensions of the two ASA Maya 3 in 1 pens I have.

Dimensions for the ASA Maya 3 in 1

Length capped: 149 mm

Length uncapped: 132 mm

Length posted: 175 mm

Cap length: 69 mm

Cap diameter: 15.9 mm

Cap breather hole(s): 1 hole for pressure equalization during uncapping

Barrel length: 90 mm

Barrel diameter: 14.2 mm

Barrel threads diameter: 13.3 mm

Section length: 18.7 mm

Section diameter: 12.6 mm tapers to 11.4 mm

Feed diameter: 6 mm

Nib exposed length with an installed JoWo #6 nib unit: 23.3 mm

Ink capacity: 3.4 ml (usable volume for storing ink in the barrel in eye dropper mode)

Barrel weight: 16 g (with a Schmidt K5 converter filled with ink installed)

Cap weight: 9 g

Total weight: 25 g (with a Schmidt K5 converter filled with ink installed)

Turns to uncap: 2 turns

As expected, I noticed the lengths varied somewhat, but the diameters of both pens are quite similar.

If ASA Pens chimes in, I would like to know how the top finial is attached to the cap. If it can be user disassembeled the tension of the clip tension can be easily adjusted to personal preferences.

Well I just upgraded my order from an eyedropper to a 3 in 1.

Uber excited. I love the design and look of this pen and the fact that you can get a Jowo system is quite nice to say the least. Hmm Hmm Hmm... and it's ebonite : )

Thank you to Jamerelbe for your insistence on the upgrade :).

I am a bit confused between asa Maya and asa nauka. Don't know which one to choose . I currently have Gama supreme and Gama popular. I love the supreme. Thank you. Any suggestion.

Anyone try swapping a bock titanium nib in the ED version? I have some thirsty nibs that need new houses.

Thanks
