Pilot 845 In Vermilion Urushi

Ironically, the only Pilot pen I have ever had a nib issue with is the pen in question. I too have the BB nib and it and it often hard starts. Plan to have it looked at at the upcoming pen clinic. Not a big problem, but one I would like to have fixed.

It is also a problem I have with large stub, music or broad nibs by other makers. I have never had a problem with my EF, F or M Pilot nibs, including the F nibs on my other two 845s.

But this too could be subjective. I have a lot of vintage pens. While the quality of many of my vintage points is very high, their current conditions, while still useable, are not always the best. Still enjoyable to use, however, and I have become less picky about the smoothness of nibs. I have found that ones that are just a little rough often smooth out with use. A situation I have found to be true with many modern pens out of the box.

I feel like I'm very much in love with this pen, the Pilot Custom 845 Vermillion...

Does anybody know where could I purchase mine, other than Tokyo Pen Shop Quill?

Thank you so much!

AFAIK, the vermilion version of the 845 is only available from Tokyo Pen Shop Quill, and at present, the supply is very limited.

I have the Waverley nib, inked with Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuyu-kusa. The nib is smooth, the flow is perfect--no complaints. In every respect, this pen is not the equal of my Namiki vermilion Yukari Royale and Emperor pens, but I don't really expect it to be. It's a well-made, perfectly function pen, suited for business and personal use. If you want a vermilion urushi pen and can't afford the larger ones (yet), this isn't a bad place to start.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Welcome home. Pull up a stump and set a spell. The Vermilion is only available through Tokyo Quill Shop but if you contact them they will take a pre-order and let you know when it does come in.
