Got mine today - bit disappointed as the Rose Red - Blue Ripple seems to be much greener in reality and so not a huge fan.

Writes nice enough

Here is another better shot of my 3C Jowo and 3 Eye Dropper. They seem to be really beautifully finished and I am delighted with them. Only thing I thought on first receiving them was that the clip was ailver finished and not gold because the gold is very faint. However that is a small niggle. The pens are beautifully made and the threading is perfect.

Thanks Ranga Pens!

Dear All,

Thanks for overwhelming response for this Group Buy and making it as Grand Success. We have shipped all the paid orders (150+ Pens) for this Group Buy. You will be receiving the tracking number by today.

But I think Most of the FPN'ers have received the pens already.

Dear Mr. Vaibhav Sir,

Thanks for your tireless efforts for this Group Buy. It won't touch this height without your initiative.

The "bakul" finish is a kind of matte finish - there's not a third "matte" option with these pens! I fine my polished Ranga pens feel smooth and 'polished' in my hand, and perhaps a bit 'cooler' to the touch? Whereas the bakul finish is maybe a bit warmer, and definitely grippier (without being rough).

I doubt very much that colour makes much difference - ebonite is ebonite is ebonite, though densities and porosity may vary a little?

What I also mean is is one finish softer than the other? I heard ebonite is like hard rubber, so does one have more "bounce"/"elasticity" to it?

Not really: the 'finish' on the pen only affects its outer layer one is polished to the point of being smooth to the touch, the other is more textured. The ebonite rods themselves are treated and machined identically, so I can't see how the finish would change the qualities of the material that greatly.

Congrats to all the happy recipients.

Is it my imagination, or was this a much larger order than other group buys of pens from India? I scanned some of the threads on previous buys to get an idea of the volume, thus my question.

I have not received my pens as of yesterday, but I do have an email they have been shipped. Included in the email is a link to a You-tube video of a pen being made by M.P. Kandan? I have to say that the the skills demonstrated are quite amazing, at least in my opinion. When he says the pens are hand made, he isn't kidding. The lathe turns the rod stock and everything else is accomplished by applying tools by hand. Craftsmanship is an understatement!

Dear All FPN'ers,

Thanks for the patience. I have sent the tracking number to all participants.

We shipped 99% order with in 2-5 weeks as promised initially and we took 6 weeks in 1% of the order.

The slight delay is due to 6-7 days power disruption caused by an storm .

Thanks again for understanding and patience

I received the 03 in Teal and Black swirl and matte finish. The packaging to get through the mail was quite sturdy. The outside was a cloth material which appears to handle the abuse of international travel well. Everything was pristine inside. An eyedropper pen, along with a plastic eyedropper was included, which was a nice touch.

As for the pen - I call it Blue Black swirl rather than Teal and Black swirl. Under inside lighting, the teal looks much darker, but I went outside to take the pictures which shows off the colors a bit better. At first the pen had what I might call some dust near the end of the section, and the lip of the cap, but that seems to have disappeared after some use.

I really like feel of the matte finish, I don't have anything like it. I'd say it feels kind of like wood, as there's a subtle grain to it. This is definitely a substantial, but not weighty pen - the bottom of the clip just fits my shirt pocket. If they make a pocket 03 I'd love to see that. The clip is fairly tight, so the pen isn't going anywhere.

Another thing this pen has that I wish other manufacturers would do is that it takes a number of twists to take the cap off. I know some people want to have caps come right off with like one twist, but find that annoying. I don't know how many times pens like that have come undone in my pocket (pants especially). I like pens to stay capped in my pockets and not come undone no matter how much I walk and jostle around, so this is a real bonus for me. I'd say if you tighten it all the way it takes 7 twists to come off.

I fitted it with a Franklin Christoph Medium Stub and am using the included Schmidt converter. Right now it has Noodler's 54th Massachusetts which immediately came to mind when I think about the color of the pen (Noodler's Squeteague is second) I'm sure if I eyedroppered this the capacity would be massive.

This is a unique pen in my collection. Thanks Kandan & Viabhav!

I received the 03 in Teal and Black swirl and matte finish.

That matte finish sure does look nice. I'm certain I'll specify that the next time around.

post-1244-0-83713600-1485447855_thumb.jpgI received my two pens today! One is a Solid Cherry Red 3C the other a Forest Green-Black Ripple 3. The 3C has a gold clip, the 3 has a Silver.

I ordered them without nibs and the Jowo option + C/C. I bought four Jowo #6 nibs from fpnibs for the pens, two polished steel and two, two-tone 1.1mm stub and Fine. So far, they write quite well and are surprisingly fine pens given the low cost.

After watching the video of how the pens are made, I'm even more impressed!

got mine today as well.. premium ebonite #2 and #10 they both look very good and I don't see any pits. the orange one reminds me of sheaffer's pastel color. the yellow swirl ended up with more black than yellow than I had hoped for.

Does anyone know what the gold clips are made of? I might get a gold one next time, but don't want to if it will wear off in time. I got the chrome colored one for my pen this go 'round.

Mine arrived today. Model 3c in brick red and khaki ripple, with a mirror finish. Writes wonderfully and looks great. Its my 4th Ranga pen and all of them have been a pleasure to own. I look forward to another group buy!

My pens arrived today as well :D

Very pleased with them, would definitely purchase more (as one ended up with more black than red), and I can see why a review I read somewhere on here asked for the pen to be shorter (haven't used them yet, but I think I will reserve final judgement until after, comfortable in hand at the moment though). Mr. Kandan was kind enough to make some sections in a certain shape for me and I love the way they turned out! 😍

The mottled brown swirl is also quite lovely, I feel that the standard ebonites sometimes don't get the praise they deserve :) though his is the most varied, colorful, and beautiful selection of ebonite I have seen
