The people at Jetpens did a recent summary of Noodlers ink classifications that helped clarify the differences for me. No connection -- just a pointer to a useful information resource.

Didn't Jetpens stop carrying Noodlers inks for a while?

Jet Pens had some issues with bottle breakage in transit though there may have been other problems as well. That's just the one I read about when they stopped carrying Noodler's. Recently, they started carrying the line again so it would seem any problems were resolved.

I love the idea and the fact there is so much variety, but I no longer use the inks after some issues in my pens.

Happy to read about them though.

I'm really interested in Noodler's ink, especially their bulletproof one. It's so hard to find one here though. Hope I get a chance to one day.

I had too many issues with them. Multiple inks, multiple pens, multiple papers. I don't like playing Russian roulette when making a purchase, so I stick to inks with a good reputation and solid, repeatable performance. They just caused too many issues, I tried many but never had a great experience... enough to not want to take any more "risks" with wasting money and a whole bottle of (IMO) unusable ink.. sorry Noodler's fans, it's nothing personal... well actually, it is personal... it's my personal experience :D

I love some Noodler's Inks. I dislike some of the inks, and some disappointed me (QSH). I think Noodler's Purple is one of the best purples on the market. KTC is really good to me and represents everything I should love in an ink, but I'm attracted to the bad boys of ink, hence BSB and I have a tumultuous relationship.

For a company that makes more than a hundred different inks, it's sad to just love or hate.

I prefer my inky relationships like my inks, vibrant, interesting and exciting.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

The Noodler's inks I've used I've liked. I have a number of them and I haven't run into problems. But I don't go for the super bright colors, the Baystate, or Concord lines. I really like a number of the FPH exclusive inks, and the FPN exclusives as well. They probably are paper and pen dependent, but I tend to use quality paper and fine or medium nibs.

Of course, Sailor is my favorite brand, but I always enjoy getting back to the Noodler's inks I have.

For Noodler's, you really need to check the reviews on the site your going to buy them from and from here. They are very inconsistent with some fantastically performing inks and others that are terrible. Only two or three i have bought that i'm not a fan of.

I'm in the hate category.

To be fair, the price point of the line's inks is beyond reasonable, and the range of types of inks and colors is spectacular.

The problem for me is that the quality control simply isn't up to par. I've had more problems with this line than any other. One bottle will be fine, the next will be too wet, or the color will be noticeably different, or the smell will be off. A single example of what I mean: One of my friends has Air Corps Blue Black, which is why I bought it. His ink is stable, looks great, writes great, and so on. Mine has a completely different color, definitely not a blue-black but a green black and it's so wet that it soaks through Rhodia. And then someone else I know with the same exact ink has a very different looking ink from either of us.

BSB will have formulations that are well-behaved, and others that are completely crazy with how wet and saturating they are.

And we all saw that something very noticeable happened with Black Swan for a while there.

This happening once or twice, I could understand. Things happen in manufacturing that can make things go haywire now and then. But for every single bottle of ink I've bought from them to have these wild variations bottle to bottle is simply unacceptable. I want to open a bottle and get the same ink, every time. I want to open it and know that the smell won't make me gag.

And that simply hasn't happened with Noodler's for me.

Improve the consistency, and that would help.

And all that before we even get started on what I think of the person behind the brand. I won't go into that here, but let's say it's not a positive perception.
