Caran D'ache Madison

Hello. I'm thining of purchasing a 2nd hand Caran D'Ache Madison.

I believe it is a Madison 1, not a Madison 2. Could anyone advise what type of refills/convertor this pen will take, please? I know the newer Caran D'ache pens will take international standard, but what about older ones?

Thank you.

The pen turned up today, with a convertor attached full of ink, which had exploded all over place as a result of being in the baggage hold.

So now, I've got very inky fingers.

I'm surprised at how thin the pen actually is, but it writes very well. It has a beautiful nib, that has with a little (pleasant) grip. A bit of pressure produces a broad line, no pressure produces a more sensible medium line.

Now, I'll have to give it a good clean out but it looks like it might be a keeper. It cost me just under £90.

No pictures to drool over?????????????????

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

Here's what it looked like before. The plastic section had several cracks in it, and was leaking. Caran d'Ache said to send it for repair, they charged me £65 and fitted a new nib and section - so the pen now has an 18k nib, when it used to be 14k and the section is metal. Either they fitted a new section, and polished the old bits, or just replaced the whole pen.

I love hearing stories of customer service and value like this.

I sent my Classic off to them to swap an M nib for an EF and I think the round trip was just three days.
