I Need Someone In The Usa To Fix Some Pens This Christmas

I will be visiting Houston from Dec. 17th 2016 till Jan. 1st 2017.

 

I have three pens I needed fixed. One is a Sheaffer student pen that was dropped on its tip and needs to be reground/adjusted, the next one is a Sheaffer Snorkel that needs to be restored, while the third is a Mont Blanc 221 with a cracked section.

 

Mont Blanc service in Germany tells me they have no stock of replacement sections for this model. I would prefer a replacement section, but I am open to someone making a new section or pen just to be able to use the nib.

 

The Snorkel has a Triumph nib, and the actual snorkel seems split down the middle, so the pen doesn't suck up ink.

 

I live in China and would prefer to take the pens back to China rather than risk courier service.

 

PM me if you are willing to repair these pens; otherwise feel free to leave names of people you recommend.

I believe that most of the pen repairers in the US would need you to mail them the pens now, and then possibly have them mailed back to you at your US address before you leave.

 

4 weeks is probably the lowest turnaround time there is for any US repairer.

 

They have Christmas and New Year off like most people.

In Houston go to Dromgoole's and it is on Rice Blvd. Contact them before hand and explain what you need. The Sheaffer student pen should probably just get a replacement nib & section. The Snorkel can be restored. The 221 though will be an issue. They MAY be able to help but it's unlikely that you will find anyone in the US that has a replacement section. That may need to get sent to someone like Max Schrage in Germany or Brad Torelli to have a new section made.

 

The folk at Dromgoole's are great so contact them and see what they will be able to do for you.

Sometimes with older pens, like the Montblanc 221, that are out of production, you find yourself having to buy a pen for the parts to repair a pen you have. It seems wasteful, but you might not find the parts otherwise.

This is injection molded plastic. I don't know that even Brad could make a section for this pen. Not like making a one for a vintage pen where it can be machined out of hard rubber.

221's can be found on German Ebay and are affordable. Most 2xx and 3xx are.

 

I think the normal Ebay shape pen would be more affordable than Max. One could take a peek in German Ebay for a few days and then ask Max a price. He should have parts. Could give it a good polish too.

 

If you look in Penboard.de....they will have it if anyone does but it will be $$$$. It will be in tip top shape though.

I often go there and sigh.

 

Germany would not be for Christmas and one stop Texas shopping.
