Confusion About The Origin Of Parker Sonnet

Hi All,

Recently I've purchased a Parker Sonnet Matt Black CT Fountain Pen with M nib from a reputed pen boutique in Kolkata. The imprint near the cap lip is: PARKER SONNET FRANCE T. The pen is fitted with a piston type delux Parker converter which i'm quite sure made in France. But the sticker on the box says that the product is manufactured by Luxor. The seller told me actually this product has been assembled and packed by Luxor.I'd like to hear from you what the actual story is.Can anybody help me?Thanks.

It seems as though that Luxor is the distributor for Parker pens in India.

May you take some pictures of the pen and the box?? This may help us give you a better idea.

What I can say is that the box has basically been 'custom made' or has been assembled to Parker specs by Luxor.

The Sonnet produced in India has got no country of origin imprinted on it. If the imprint says France then the pen is definitely made in France. May be the box is produced in India by luxor and, hence, the 'made in India' sticker on it.

I think then it may depend on the finish of the pen?

Maybe some finishes are made in France and some are made in India?

Did you get the pen used or new?

Sometimes, people find boxes for some pens, and somehow, someway, you can find boxes for a lot of pens. It could be that the box is not reflect ant of the pen model....

i hope that helps...

Whatever finish the pen is if it says '...FRANCE' then it is made in France and not in India. Those produced in India do not say anything about the country of origin.

Thank you all.Few years ago I bought a sterling silver sonnet which has the imprint on cap band:Parker Sonnet 111P.There is no country name. But my newly purchased sonnet cap band imprint is:PARKER SONNET FRANCE T.It is a brand new pen.Couple of months ago I have also collected a nos Parker 45 Flighter steel M nib pen and the imprint on the cap lip is: PARKER 45 QC USA.I'm actually confused about the sticker which says that Luxor manufactured this France imprinted pen.

I have a 1st generation Sonnet Firedance finish with no mention of the country of origin. The pen is super wet, has exceptionally extra springy nib bordering on flex and totally free of the Sonnet specific nib drying out syndrome.

Though sale of Luxor produced/distributed Parker pens is banned in Pakistan and these are never seen anywhere in stores, I found my Luxor produced Firedance in an antique store in Karachi. May be some visitors brought the pen from India as the dwellers of the city mostly consist of those who migrated from India at the time of partition in 1947 and having left relatives behind they keep visiting them in India.
