Lovely ink. I have a couple of vase bottles of it. One I stumbled across on eBay, from a UK seller, and grabbed it for a very reasonable price. Sometimes, all the stars align.........:-)

If you are enamoured of it, try the MB Defoe which is probably just as hard to obtain.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

I have both & they feel completely different to me. Defoe is drier in comparison, like many Montblanc inks, & lacks that lush Sailor feel. Defoe is also more "grey", at least to my eyes.

I used up a bottle before the feeding frenzy began & miss it. R&K Alt Gold-grun is as close as I've managed to come on my budget.

While I think Defore is drier, the colors looked the same to me after they dried and the MB was water resistant and fade resistant. I agree that Sailor inks are lush, but for the price they should be fade resistant. That being said, I love the Sailor blues.

Barely missed an auction on one of these the other day. Won't let it get away again.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.
