RINGS: A classic cigar shaped pen

Designed and named by me for personal use.

Manufactured by Mr. Manoj from Fosfor pens, Pune, India (Thank you Manoj!)

Here are the specs:

Material: polyester resin; Color: topaz blue varying between baby Swiss and Swiss blue

Finish: Polished/glossy; Clipless; Length: Capped 146 mm, Uncapped 141 mm

Nob: Jowo #6 Fine Stainless Steel; Converter: Schmidt K5; Section: Slightly elevated at the tip

Yes, if one wants to get it from Fosfor, it goes by the "Ice Blue" name. However, the color varies between three shades and topaz blue color chart gives a better point of reference.

Here is the first 72 hour impression:

(1) The Jowo #6 Fine stainless steel nib is super smooth. (similar to Lamy Fine stainless steel nibs in feel)

(2) The feed does a great job too. Overall, mild wet writing with Sailor Jentle Four Seasons Yama Dori ink on Bilt Royal Executive Bond 85 gsm paper.

(3) All the threads in the pen are soft. Great craftsmanship Manoj (Fosfor Pens)!

 

This pen finds a place on my table as a daily writer. I just need to get a Kimono pen wrap for it.

Is it possible to know the measurements of this pen (grip section especially)? I don't have a good sense or proportions, nor have any of the other two pens you pictured for comparison at hand.

Circumference of the grip section: 37-40 mm (~radius 5.89-6.37 mm)

It tapers gradually towards the tip and elevates at the end. Check the image below for the design.

The Fosfor pens website has various design options. The dimensions have to be picked by you.

Circumference of the barrel: 45 mm (~radius 7.16 mm)

Circumference of the cap: 55 mm (~8.76 mm)

Writing experience after ten days and 25 pages of writing:

Pros

(1) It still feels great in my hand. To put things in perspective, the dimension of pen will suit a user who is comfortable with Pelikan M800.

(2) Every time I picked up the pen, it started writing from the word go. No break in flow.

Cons

(1) The weight of the pen feels good (20.35 g without cap, 31.4 g with cap, Schmidt K5 converter, full ink) but might not be suitable for very long writing sessions.

Thanks for the update. It's always good to know how pens feel once you have got used to them and their ways. Some pens I've not loved at first but found after a week or so I absolutely adored (ASA Nauka was one) and there are also pens which satisfy at first but after a while you find their shortcomings (recent Parkers, in my case).

I use microfiber towels to clean my fountain pens. An idea crossed my mind that a pen sleeve made of this material could have dual functions. So, I stitched one. Pretty pleased with its performance. The microfiber layer is towards inside. Here it is:

I have a friend staying in New Delhi, I realize India is a huge place and this is a Pune brand, but any chance of getting this pen there?

 

Ha! Never mind, I just reread it's a custom pen! Pity.
