Modern "big Red"

I've thought about that, and may make some. I stupidly passed on lot of 4 of the pens at the flea market back at the end of May. The nib on the one shown is really nice, and the combination of pen and nib have me hooked. It'll have to be another one.

Yes please! :P while the Cross Pilot nib is awesome

Jowo especially with a screw in feed tap would open a whole host of possibilities!

I found the cap fix for the Cross Solo section, to prevent the tip of the nib from hitting the cap and getting damaged.

And it is a relatively easy fix.

- Go to your local hobby shop and get an "Evergreen" styrene tube #232, 3/8" OD.

- Cut a piece 16mm long, and finish both ends smooth with no burrs.

- The piece will friction fit into the inner cap, going in a couple mm below the edge of the inner cap.

- - Note, the inner cap is tapered. So if the tube does not center, wrap a layer of tape around the tube, at the end where the pen enters the tube.

The Cross section will seat onto the tube, and the tube will prevent the nib from crunching onto the end of the cap.

As always, check that the nib is indeed clear of the end of the cap.

BTW, I use an X-Acto miter box and razor saw, to get a nice level cut of the tube.

If you free-hand cut the tube, you should level the cut, so that the section seats flat on the tube.

A level cut will allow the section to seal on the tube insert.
