Unusual Sheaffer Stylist Id?

Recommended Posts

I'm moderately familiar with the Stylist range of Sheaffer pens but here's one that I just purchased and received but do not recognize, nor can I find any information about it here on FPN or elsewhere. Rather than try to take and upload new images I'm including a link to the original auction entry (with the seller's permission). Please go to the link and scroll down to the main completed sale entry and view the four images. Note the almost totally hooded nib (a la Parker 51) and the white feed. Thanks for anything you can tell me about this model.

I agree that it appears to be low end, but like you (who are much more knowledgeable than I) can't figure out anything further.

I've seen a couple of these, but only a couple. It appears that Sheaffer was playing around with a different feed design, and tried the the material like that used in a felt tip marker. They also made the felt tips to be refilled by cartridges, much like the Parker Touche' 45. Neither did especially well I gather.

Thanks Ron. I figured you might have some thoughts about it and was waiting to hear. I'm assuming the feed is white because the pen has never been inked so I'll just keep it that way, as an un-inked novelty. I had flushed it and there was no evidence of any residue so that would support my opinion that it hasn't been inked. When I asked the seller for permission to use his images he asked that I keep him in the loop so I'll send him a link to this topic.

Regards,

Barry

Struggling with mine at the moment, but when I got the nib working, it was a fine nib and I liked the way it wrote. It was very scratchy until it got ink on it, then it felt like it was lubed.

As it was deliverying very little ink to the tip, it wrote with an extra fine line which I liked a lot, and was a very dry line. I then decided I'll be using it.

Then along the line of the struggle to get it working like we all understand fountain pens should, I dropped ink straight into the front of the feed, and then I got blacker ink, the line became a European fine, and was rather wet.

When I get it fully working to my understanding that it is working as it should, I will update you with what it feels like, but it sure was more enjoyable than the Student/Cartridge, albeit the latter is currently more reliable for actual writing due to being a normal fountain pen, I suppose.
