Krone Architectus Gothic

I suggest they change their name from "Fountain Pen Hospital" to "Bank Account Assassins".

I know I shouldn't have, but...

Westminster is on its way back to Europe.

I don't know what I'll eat or wear this summer, but I know what I'll write with ;)

At least you have the benefit of the exchange rate.

The more I use the Celtic, the better I feel about being broke.

Co-workers, who are not into fountain pens, described the Krone Architectus Gothic as:

Scary

Something from Harry Potter

Something Angelina Jolie would use to carry blood

At least it got some reactions.

Ha-ha!

A passer-by at a Boston coffee shop [stops dead in his tracks and bulges his eyes]: What is that?"

Me: It's a pen! (I get annoyed when interrupted from feverish writing).

Passerby: Can I touch it?

Me: What?! No! I mean, I'm sorry, I am just working on a project here and trying to finish.

Passerby walks away, embarrassed and I am ashamed for being so off-putting. That darned Gothic!

Why would he want to touch it? Does it look like some kind of creature? :roller1:

Seriously, I feel bad that I have to miss out on it. I bought too many darn books at cursed Amazon.com and FOUR pens this month!

Because of the heavy silver and the size, these are very touchable pens, maryanne! I'm thinking QM2 may have missed one of the best lines from a guy I've heard in ages  People want to touch the Krones and turn them over in their hands. I now have both the Gothic and the Celtic and the heft and texture as well as the solid overlay seems to attract people's hands.

I fell your pain. Amazon has FINALLY decided to ship my supersaver that was all in stock when I ordered it at the beginning of May. I'm coming to the conclusion they're trying to wean us off the free shipping in an attempt to get people to pay annual fees for speed. I'm holding out for the free!

Thanks for making me feel less guilty about getting THREE. :P

I was thinking that, too, Ghost Plane! I wonder if QM2 burst out laughing afterwards.

You know, something tells me I'm going to end up with one of 'em Krone pens anyway. <_<

Note: Edited because I was cross-eyed earlier.

I received my plum-colored Swords last week.

In common with the experiences other Architectus owners here, it attracted a fair share of admirers and curious I-gotta-touch-it onlookers :roller1:

Filled it up with Sheaffer's Lavender ink - I've got to recommend this ink; it's bright purple when wet, but dries to a lovely bluish-violet colour, on any paper - and initially the Swords laid down a smooth, consistent wet line from its 18K F nib  The pen too is surprisingly comfortable to hold - no sharp edges whatsoever unlike what the images might suggest, and the weight, though a wee bit top-heavy is just nice if used unposted. Posting the cap would make the pen a bit unbalanced.

Then came the bad news - the pen started skipping after I believe it had exhausted the ink in its feed after the initial fill-up. Not too bad and not too often, but it usually occurs during startups and when you wanted to resume writing after you had lifted the nib off the paper. Occurs most often on coated paper. A slight pressure on the nib usually solves the problem, but irritating nonetheless. <_<

So this morning I brought it over to Manjit (KL's own nibmeister) - put it under the loupe and found that the feed was not properly set against the nib. There is also a slight degree of 'baby-bottoming' of the nib, but when he removed the feed he found that the feed had some manufacturing imperfections - the ink channel had a few blockages on it :o Rectified the feed problems (I don't know what he did exactly, but it does involve the use of fire :o :o ), and he also ground the nib a bit, but the end result is that my Swords now writes like a champion  :D . All in the repairs cost me RM30 (about US$8.60) . Krone should buck up on the QC :P

Wow! Good thing you had someone you could go to for an immediate fix. I think I must hold mine further back than you as they're perfect for me posted. I've been using them as daily writers, alternating as I run thru the ink, and they're becoming favorites. I find myself giving in to the fascination of turning them in the sunlight to look at the beautiful colors... Any pen I can hold 4 hours at a time without hand cramp is awesome!
