Hello From Germany

Hi! I'm Erik.

I'm a high school student from Italy who's doing an exchange year in Hannover, Germany. (yeah, Pelikan was here :D )

I've followed FPN and the fountain pen world for about a year and finally I've decided to join this amazing forum.

I just started using dip pens, and I love sending letters to friends.

I hope to learn a lot and have a great time here! ;)

Greetings and a warm welcome ! Great to hear you're writing letters to friends, I'm sure the first ones they receive come as quite a surprise.

Retired, twice. Time to do more things, writing being one.

Thank you. What really surprised me is that they like it and always answer me.

I wasn't expecting such enthusiasm from modern teenagers.

Thanks.

Well, I'm here since August and I'll return back to Italy in June. It's amazing to live in another country, with another family, culture, language. I'm attending a high school here (every student has a Lamy Safari or AL-Star, whereas in Italy they are almost unknown). It's difficult to sum it but it really expands your horizons. The main battle this moment is learning German :wallbash: :D

We exchange students are like a family, I've met a lot of interesting people and I'm in contact with them despite they are in USA, Brazil, Finland, China, Australia and New Zealand right now.

What a great opportunity ! I hope that you can prosper in Pelikan territory.

Hello, Erik, and welcome to the Fountain Pen Network. Glad you have joined us. This is now your place as much as it is ours. Please don't be shy. Ask all the questions you have and don't hesitate to state your opinions. I hope you enjoy your time here.

Welcome Erik. Enjoy your year in Germany. In my teens I was sent off to a proper English boarding school. It was a bit of a culture shock, but I was out on my own and it was great. Some of the best times of my life. Still keep in contact with friends from 50 years ago today. We are spread all over the world now, and write regularly. Make the most of your time there. You'll keep these memories and hopefully some of the friends for the rest of your life.

All the best.
