Waterman Aiken Lambert "the Skywriter" Questions

This was a sweet e-bay find. I've just started venturing into the vintage restoration arena. I replaced the sac, cleaned the nib and feed (pictured here in it's pre-cleaned state) and polished her up. Now she is very beautiful and the 14KT Medium Flex (A.L. CO.) is amazing.

I have a couple questions for you Waterman experts...

First, is this cap original? I can't find an image of this pen on the internet or in the books I have. It doesn't look like the caps I have seen on other Skywriters. It clearly shows wear, and appeared to have the same wear as the barrel, but I'm just not sure it is original. Engraving on barrel reads "The Skywriter" Aiken Lambert Made in the U.S.A.

Second, any idea of it's true value. I am not interested in reselling, the shading and wetness from this nib is truly remarkable. However, I've gotten enough pens now, that I am starting a spreadsheet for insurance purposes. I have no idea of it's true value, despite internet "research". Any ideas or do you have a good link to point me to?

Thanks!

The cap strikes a chord in my memory, though I don't have any of my documentation handy.

The cap band (though not the clip) matches that in a post here: https://munsonpens.wordpress.com/2012/12/03/waterman-1st-generation-skywriter/

Value is low. The overall build quality of the pen is not great- this was not a shining moment for A.L. or Waterman in their histories. However, a wonderfully writing pen is a treasure regardless.

Regards, greg

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

Thank you so much for the information Greg,

I totally agree, a wonderful writing pen is treasure regardless of monetary value.

Thanks again!
