Atelier Prive Experience [Pic Heavy]

For those who ever wondered what it is like to oder a custom pen from Montblanc's Aterlier Prive, I share with you the experience.

Fist off, you decide on the design base:

Then you decide on the stone setting, if you would like any:

Then you get to imagine a nib design you might fancy:

If you know the subject/topic that captivates you the most, they may suggest some for you:

Then comes the cap's turn:

There are some samples to inspire you:

What would your ultimate skeleton pen look like?

PS No, I did not order one. Just expressed interest in the process and was shown the way :)

Nice although if I were looking for a custom pen, skeleton bodies, overlays and jewels would not make it onto the list.

When I went to the Montblanc factory I was told of this. I saw the picture of a pen that Mario Barth commissioned MB to do. I believe the starting price of this service is 250,000 Euros. They have created pens which costed millions.

Wonder how much they would charge to do a careful reproduction of a 139 with a semi-flex 14C O3B nib. I'd take that over any of this bling.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Incredible! Thanks for sharing. I was really interested to know how is the process to require an exclusive model at Atelier Privé.

Thanks again,

~ That sounds sweet.

A semi-flex 14C OBBB nib — nice!

Wow......thanks for posting. Those nibs are beautiful :)

~ Among major contemporary fountain pen makers, is Montblanc alone in offering a service like Atelier Privé?

Or, are their other fountain pen makers who provide highly customized, entirely bespoke fountain pens for discerning clients?

I am almost certain that S.T Dupont do as well. But not on that particular level, close. Cartier does/did in the past. I am unable to speak about other brands though :)

If you can source a nib, piston and don't care about the branding, you can contact Brad Torelli. I am having something along those lines made for me.

Thanks for sharing Pravda. If I am going to spend that kind of money on a pen, my design base will be a blank piece n of n paper and MB can figure out how to make my doodle into a pen. It was interesting to see the nibs with inset gems. I had not seen one before.

I would still rather have that falconry glove from MB. :)
