Mini Review Of The Mini Kaweco Converter

Hi all!

Just got this cute little converter in the mail, and I thought it could be interesting to a lot of folks looking for converters for their smaller pens. This model does fit the liliput, so I think quite a few smaller pens will fit it. It is a push and pull (no twisting), and feels very well made.

The opening was a little too small; I had to stick a toothpick in there and wiggle it a little bit for it to fit. But after the first time you plug it onto a pen for the first time, it's a nice fit.

I carefully measured the ink capacity and it's about .58mL. So yep, not a whole lot... You probably don't want to put this on a double broad Visconti...

And that .58mL measurement was from filling with a micro pipet directly, so filling directly from bottle you might lose another .1 mL due to the air... So read something like .5ml....

They also have a squeeze converter I've tried on a couple of Sport pens. It works well but in terms of capacity I'd rather fill a cartridge with a syringe, which I detest.

I've not tried mine out yet but am using cartridges in the Sports at present.

Why do you detest it? I do it all the time and quite enjoy it. A very neat and efficient process, somehow. The environmental effect is probably neglible at best - making the glass for one's ink bottle probably pollutes the environment more than an equivalent amount of cartridges...

There are a few practical things I dislike, for example having to use a mediator (syringe - as opposed to the directness of e.g. a piston filler) and that most cartridge types don't seem to connect securely enough to the pen, which after some fills results into a loose fit.
