Kwzi Old Gold

Well perhaps you've become acquainted with the inky fruits of the master Polish ink maker known as KWZ's endeavors. If not yet, then perhaps this will finally entice you.

 

Now typically I don't use "yellow" inks. And this ink isn't one. And in spite of the name it does not have any glitter or sparkly particles in it. But it does have the appearance of the old gold in the medieval religious icons. This is quite a useful ink as it's not really too bright, and can be easily read. I can imagine this being used for fancy party or wedding invitations, announcements of your latest book release or gold record. And probably fun writing. This is not a silly "glitter" ink in a gel roller used by young girls to make everything they write "special" and to draw unicorns and horses. So enough with some American stereotypes. But you get the idea that I've never liked those gel pens with their glitter.

 

The basic color of the ink on the page does appear as "gold" but also tending in a way towards golden green. To me a nice look. Very restrained.

 

Again the camera has not done well in imaging the page. The actual page looks nice, and this image really looks like a deer caught in the headlights. The others are better for certain.

Not meant to be waterfast or resistant, but something is left behind.

 

A really interesting mix of dyes, that isn't captured very well in this picture. There's a slight amount of violet, a yellow and orange.

White_Lotus, I'm just confirming, you did post this before, but incase you made any changes.

 

Well, yesterday I went and thought I posted this review of the KWZ Old Gold ink. Unfortunately I must have hit "close tab" instead of "Post Review" and so my original comments are lost into the electronic ether never to be seen again. Boo-hoo.

 

This ink looks just like what the name says: old gold perhaps on some medieval religious icon. This is not a glittery ink but a very sedate gold; it sometimes looks like a green ink. It shades quite nicely it's less saturated than other KWZ inks, but I think that might be necessary in order to get the effect. It's quite readable on the page. I'm not normally into this color range, but this is more like a green/brown than a yellow. It really has the look of "gold" without the shine, or the use of glitter or metallic particles.

 

The usual papers: Mohawk via Linen=MvL; Tomoe River=TR; Hammermill 28 lb inkjet=Hij.

 

The image on MvL paper didn't really capture the color right. The camera didn't seem to understand the lighting very well. And now I see it looks more pink than it should be. Sigh, right? The other images are good.

 

 

This came out quite nice.

 

Even though the cast of the TR paper is pinkish, I think the color for the ink is good.

 

Not meant to be water resistant, but some ink left behind though some washes away. I've seen much worse.

 

Now this is fascinating. Yellow, orange, and violet for certain. A dull green dye as well? Or a greenish brown?

Have you tried the IG Gold? I can't remember. Let me know if not and I'll send you some. Goes down yellow but dries up almost he same colour as this.

Thanks Tas. I'm not sure if I've tried the IG Gold. I don't think so. But while I admire the color changes and final colors, I'm so far not a fan of IG inks. I don't like the idea of extra maintenance for my pens, especially pens with sacs and rubber components in pump fillers (Vacumatics, Edisons). So thanks for the offer, but I should pass.
